OK Dan, here is my perfect little knife design

Well, if you guys want one, you can all ask for what you like, but the pic thats posted is the one I want.
7.5"

I leave handle materials, metal materials, thickness and finish to Dan. He has artistic reign in that area and I know it's gonna be great.

well consider the adverage palm width is 4" - handel
then the ring aprox 1" = 5 that makes the blade 2.5 don't you think thats a little small for a good curve and a tanto?

just thinking about trying to get all the features in

Seeing some of Dans stuff theres little doubt the finishing touches will be just right

7.5 is the tip to tip length. If you straightened her out, she might be 9 inches long...

Plus, it is meant to be smaller for close up type cuttin chores...

I think that 7.5" is a good overall size. Maybe 3" of blade,(looking at the pictures) and 4.5" of handle/ring. Of course nice damascus. It could even have a tapered tang to make the blade a little heavier. It also seems that in keeping with the general design idea of a small close use cutting tool for concealed carry, that a blade thickness of .125 to .150 would be just perfect. That steel is plenty strong in a short application like this and will be a better slicer. Thin, sexy wood scales with some sort of colored spacer material, held on (my tastes) with mosaic pins and epoxy. This is all nothing more than my personal vision of what I would love if I were getting one made, and nothing more. ;) :D A thin leather covered kydex sheath would be most versital, but not very friendly to nice damascus steel.

The size, style of point, material, etc is all up to Dan and Danny as far as I'm concerned. Dan makes wonderful pieces with a real eye for detail and functional beauty. I like Danny's design and quite frankly, who am I to tell a ninja what kind of knife he should carry;) I just want one.

as a side note
maybe some time on another thread we can get into some concepts on blade use... I know a little about your art style, as for me I prefer a little more blade to work with.

But I would love to talk about your blade work and maybe share with some others martial artist here...I have been training (and teaching) several styles for over 35 years and still never get tired of seeing what different artist do

I am a senior moderator on one of the largest Kung-Fu forums and even on that site there is not enough discussions about blades

Danny,
Here is a sample board of Mosaic Pins from one of the knife supply houses. Can't remember which one.

Oooh, I like those.
Dan, what do you think?
Would moasic pins work ?
Id like to pack as much refinement and class as possible into this thing.

Yes - but I'd prefer to use 1/8" pins. Otherwise, the pin will be too big relative to the handle and might cause it to crack. Another option is just "inlaying" a small length of the pin. But I'm not sure about that either....

On this sample board, pins 8a, 8b, and 8c are all 1/8", so there are some small ones out there. All of the rest get larger. Some are huge, which as Dan mentioned would weaken things a lot. They do add a touch of class and I think a foot of the 1/8" runs between 7.00 and 12.00 depending on complexity.

OK.
We are going to try it at 6", no mosaic pins (on the first run)
The kydex sheath is an extra 25$, but well worth it.
I actually placed my official order for the "Dankura Hybrid" today and it will probably be three weeks or so before we get and pics to slobber on.

IF the 6" version turns out to be too small for my hand, I will get rid of it somehow to someone here with smaller hands.

Ooooh, this is getting exciting...

on the karmabit site, there are two customs by him, the one I was thinking of is the one with the tanto style blade

Danny, I'm sorry but it's against BFC rules to sell knives unless you're a gold member. I would edit my post if I were you as there have been some banned for this.

has anybody asked Dan what he thinks the size should be? and is there pros or cons in the construction that the size becomes an issue?

Dan says that 6 inches is optimal.
I thought bigger was better, but he is the expert, so im going to let him decide.
I know its going to be awesome...
