I really like DIJ's Kumade - (bears claw) suggestion.

Now we need a neck knife too!

with this system, many ways of riding.
id like horizontal "gun style", but you could put it anywhere.
Maybe we could even improve that a bit...
 
If 'dankura' means 'Dan's claw', it has a nice ring to it (no pun intended. Well okay, maybe a little bit intended.), and it gives props to the designer/maker team pretty equitably.

Kudos, by the way, karambits don't generally do much for me, but I really liked the artist's conception, can't wait to see a finished product. I'm kind of hoping DJ and Dan decide to share the wealth and do a run of 'em. You're special enough Danny, spread it around a little!
 
I would definately be up for owning one of those!!! ;) If Danny and Dan decided a few extra would be OK. A pretty damascus with some sort of well figured burl wood handle would be AWESOME!!
 
I just picked up a walking stick made with tiger wood, it really looks great the lines running through it almost makes it change colors as it turns, don't know if thats easy to get but it is different

so looks like people are putting pressure on Dan... the guy will have to work day and night 7 days a week to keep up with the demand....pity ;)

DIJ - settled on the length? 7.5 or 6?
 
I think 7.5 would be the best really.
Thats not too big for an overall length, dont you think?
Why dont you send me the prototype and if its too small, you can sell it to someone with smaller hands....

size is an issue, small for canceled carry has merit, though larger for better penetration and strength is important.
The thickness of the blade (to me) the thicker the better. If a tanto blade that will add to the configuration. The ring has to be large enough for use but it adds to the overall length. Don’t want to shorten the blade just because of the finger ring…
under 8” may be too small, thinning the handle is important but its full tang…
Blade polished? non-glare?
I suppose that’s why you need experts.
 
The sheath in DIJ sketch looks good, material? leather???? belt clip or belt loop?, reversable belt clip?

also the handels appear to be a little far forward and they need to be thin
(for a fighter style)

this isn't so easy is it :rolleyes:
 
OK, i've decided to use the money i'm getting back from Uncle Sam to do two things. One, i'll put some into the HIKV jar so i can get my khuk fix when the jonesin' sets in. Two, I'm putting the rest aside to go toward a Koster piece. i've decided that I *need* something made by Dan. This one looks like a really good one to start out with.
