Ok folder freaks.... Frames or Liners?

If I had my choice, I would pick a frame lock every time.

I have just had too many issues with liner locks. Not just one maker either.

That said, there are a lot of liner lock, especially custom makers liner locks I would not hesitate to carry.

The Leek is a great knife. I own two. One with linerlock and blue aluminum scales and a black framelock that uses Sandvik 14C28N for the blade. I believe the D2 framelock is a composite blade but the reality is that for light use any Leek is going to fit your requirements without any issues. I say go with the blade steal and scales that you think will fit your needs best. On a side note G10 tends to be very grippy but it can be tough on the fabric of your pants if you are using the clip. The aluminum and steel is better in that regard and both provide plenty of traction for the task you will be using the knife for. My $.02.

framelock. liner locks are for the same kind of sissies who shoot 9mm instead of .45.

I am a 9mm shooting sissy and I have a Hinderer XM -24 frame lock

But I also have the Rat Trap that is a liner lock.

I do like that 24 though.

Who made those? And what fixed blade was used?

Reese Weiland made them out of a Sarsquatch and a SJTac.

I think I'm going to try the composited bladed D2 version. It's frame locked, D2 is decent and I like the sleek stainless handle. I love my D2 vex and the way it holds an edge. Plus Kershaw confirmed they sell me a seperate blade any time.

I like framelocks - thinner, maybe stronger. Personal preference. I like D2, counts as "stainless" for me (12 vs 13%? come on now). I like S30V & framelock (CRK). It's really a question of your price point.

So if S30V is the driving factor, I should get that model despite only having a liner lock?

I would not get another liner-lock knife no matter what the steel (for the most part). IMO, the lock is more important than the type of steel the blade is made from. FWIW, I just picked up a ZT 0300 and absolutely love it! Titanium frame-lock w/ an S30V blade...
My first choice of folders is the Sebbie; premium steel, premium lock, premium craftsmanship but also a premium price...

That's worth a lot to me. I too have a ZT 0300. I don't think there is a better knife for the value out there. I know some would argue but I don't think you can buy a better folder or get any more knife out of something twice the price. G10/Titanium, Frame lock, S30V and assisted opener?? I was psyched when I first found the ZT 0300 series.

Framelock ....that being said, I never had a liner fail on me. Just preference.

But on the same framelock, I MUCH prefer one piece frame, or 2 pieces of steel/titanium versus one g10 side.....

My BM53 has not left my pocket. The balisong has fantastic lock. It fails only if your hand does.

True. ^
Another folder I like is the friction folder. I have a 3" FF from Filip DeLeeuw and a bigger one on the way from American Kami. For EDC and basic cutting, a friction folder is all one needs.

Sounds like you have a winner. I don't know that Kershaw sells blades seperatly. Hmm... I should put an S30V in my black flamelock Leek. That would be awesome.

They won't replace it as a warranty item, but they'll gladly sell you another blade.

I figured it was we will sell it to you not a here is one for free/warranty issue. Doubt I will get around to it anytime soon as I have other priorites for the money I have left i.e college. Especially after buying an XM-18 recently.
