I got my new dress up today & installed it in a spirit of adventure.

A Translucent Green G10 scale & Bronze Standoffs. That is hands down my favourite colour G10. It's very much like jade in appearance & the bronze standoffs are a rich touch of class! Now I'm good to go 'til I get the urge to put on a blue/black G10, which is real sweet also.
I examined the parts of the knife in detail to help in my understanding.
I'm very pleased with the desired effect of the teflon tape I put on last week & since I was asked, I thought I'd talk briefly about it. It held up nice 'n tight.
When I broke the knife down the tape had to be removed due to deterioration in the screw removal. The picture below shows how the tape resembles dental floss as it unwinds from being pressed into the thread. I started by digging at one end with the point of a safety pin as it needs to be broken.
This shows the 1/8" wide strip of tape (used scissors) & needs to only be a couple inches long. It's static sensitive so can be tricky. I have a small pc of 1/4" glass that I work on for various tasks.
I stretch-wound 4 revolutions this time, cut off the rest of it with scissors & squeezed it on the thread well. The last revolution can be wound so the bottom edge is a bit lower to help ease-in the rest of the tape as it starts to engage the pivot side female thread.
I decided to polish the faces of the pivot parts just as a personal touch. I used 1200 & finished up with 2000 wet/dry machinist paper. I stretched a pc of the paper between thumb & finger as shown to keep it flat on the glass & rubbed the face of each head ONLY in the direction of the blade groove so there's no random swirling. It's fine here but you can't do that on radial pattern like the scale screws for instance. They must be turned in a drill but mine were very polished out of box.
I even polished out the bottom of the grooves.( a guy's gotta have a hobby

)
I took a round stick & cut the sides to fit the groove loosely & then scraped the bottom flat with the edge of a blade & taped a narrow strip of 1200 grit to the bottom to use as a "cleaner" on the steel. This way the sides of the groove go untouched.
I used WD40 to clean parts before greasing & removed excess grease. Man - this came together REAL nice!
I am impressed with the effect of the grease & it'll last much longer than oil if I keep it clear of pocket lint etc. I use a nice slip-in sheath most often so I'm good.
The teflon tape is absolutely great & allows pivot tweaking without becoming loose.
Have a wonderful holiday season people.
