We always open gifts on Christmas eve, and it is always nice to see what everyone got this year.
My stocking was blessed with a curly zebrawood #49 Cattle King stockman in D2. Yipeeeee!

Nice.

I have my Burke/Queen Grandad barlow in my pocket with D2. That zebra wood on yours really looks great! I "need" one in that pattern for sure!

I don't think I am getting any knives for Christmas this year, shockingly enough. I have given some this year.

I almost picked up a Michigan pattern Condor axe for under the tree. Still might have to stop by and give it a good home after Christmas.

I got a case peanut and an AG Russell single blade jack knife. I guess I was good this year.

Very nice, my version of that knife is what I have called upon for present opening duty today. Sadly I don't believe any new knives will be added today for me. At the suggestion of knives for Christmas the wife does the eye roll.

Earlier in the month I got into a spirited discussion on the forum about Boker vs. Cold Steel I being the one who favored Boker. I didn't speak very highly of Cold Steel while the other gentlemen swore by them, etc. My sons are on the forum and read my drivel. So last night I got a Voyageur, a Safe Keeper II, and a 6" Ti Lite folder that looks like it came from the set of West Side Story. ( all very nice knives by the way, let me quickly add, thx boys :D)
On the other hand My daughter who works in the metalurgy lab at Col School of mines, gave me a Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter in S30v. I always loved that girl.
(Uhm, Dad's not that fond of Svord or uhm Kim Breed either kids. Hint, hint)

Here's my Christmas haul
My youngest son got me the Buck with the sheath (My first Buck).
My wife got the crazy forged file knife (crazy huh?).
My future son in law gave me the K-Bar, and my daughter wrapped the handle with the para cord (they're getting there).

Case Buffalo Horn Mini Trapper ...and this one has some pretty fat slabs of horn on them.

Great kids there! You should keep them!!!

I got sleeping bags (a two person bag that zips in two separate layer-able mummy bags one down, one synthetic), two down packable blankets for camping, rain pants, a lantern, a thermarest sleeping mat (more for one of my boys to use than me), and a duffle bag for gear (oh, and money).

For For Christmas, traditional knife wise, I gave my father a GEC made Scharade trapper. I also gave my father in law one (with a leather slip sheath I made).

I have instructed them to carry and use them, and then pass them on to my sons when they are ready!

That way, my boys will get knives carried by their grandfathers when they are old enough to open them (I originally bought the trappers for the boys, but it is going to be a long time till their thumb nails are hard enough to open them! My 8 year is still no where near able to open mine, which is well broken in!)

Obligatory pics (poor ones!)

Fresh out of the package (more than a year ago).

Here is my large and small pair "being useful" at a cattle drive/branding/cutting.

I got a Northwoods paring knife.
11 year old son got the Uncle Henry anniversary set. Three knife set.
7year old son got a SAK Tinker. In blue...his wish.
I also got a sharp maker. Which I needed.

I received some very nice knives from my wife and sons (and me :D)
The Bladeforums Congress Jack, a Case Hobo gift set with Zippo, and a BSA stag handled Congress. I also received a Boker Zippo and Zippo 2013 Collectible of the Year with a "Windy" applique'.
My sons received Schrade Smedy single blade folders from me.

No pics yet, but since I'm on vacation for a few days I'm finally going to catch up on photographs.

Merry Christmas!

Cheers,
Griff
