Okay Beckerheads, Let's See Those Murses (Accessories Optional)

Bringing back an old thread... hang on.

So I have been wanting a setup like Guyon's for a while now and finally picked up the pieces this past weekend to make it. I have been looking for a lightweight kit to store in my Jeep and use for those unplanned trips in the woods that Amanda and I find ourselves having more and more. So I pretty much ripped off Guyon's rig and put my own stuff in it. I wanted to keep this kit inexpensive but use things I know will work.

This isn't meant to be an end all be all kit, it is meant for an unplanned night in the woods.

Here it is. nice and compact.

Beckerhead patch in full effect.

In the bottle compartment I carry a Guyout bottle and a knock off GSI mug separated by a bandana.

In the outside pocket my trusty BK-11 and my sheath made by trailbum.

The rest is in the two side pouches. They are not even half full and I am not sure if I want to add more. Suggestions are welcome though.

Starting at the top 50 feet of 550 cord, Adventure medical kits space blanket, Drum liner, Small FAK, Katadyn water purification tablets, Altoids tin with various pre made tinders, UCO storm proof matches, Lighter, Cheapo headlamp, Ferro rod, Knife sharpener, duct tape, whistle, and signal mirror.

Like I said before, Suggestions are welcome.

Jeremy

What brand ferro rod is that?? Looks swank!

Man. Reading the early part of this thread was like walking through a cemetery and reading headstones...

I've been using this one lately. It looks good with flats and jeans for a quick run to the mall.

What brand of bag is this?

It looks like it could fit on a knife firesteel attachment better...i hate my lmf army handle..too bulky.

I don't know if it is any smaller or not. I don't believe it is.

Anyone else have murses for us to see?

Jeremy

Finally got around to getting one, I think the brand is Extreme Gear. I love it! I'll post pics of the contents in a bit when I have time

I can see those baby wipes in the background - you know you're not gonna have more time :-) Nice to see this resurrected, tho. I was watching for hawks today (they're migrating) and there was a guy asking about mine.... now I gotta take some pics. I have two daughters and they laugh when calling it my "murse", but still think it's pretty cool... holds some knives and has a concealed carry compartment for.... bacon jerky! Hey, I gotta hide it or they'll eat all of it.
That looks like a nice one, and if I'm guessing right, it's way cooler than a diaper bag :-) .

So I've been putting together a murse project, and the endeavor has resulted in what I'm calling the Beckerhead Modular Murse (BMM) ©.
Weight currently comes in at 5 lbs. 14 oz. I know you guys like the exploded view, so I'm breaking it down by compartment.

Here I am modeling the Beckerhead Modular Murse © with my matching OD belt.
I'm presently consulting with a fashion-coordination team at TackleF@#$ Forge and Design Institute.
We're collaborating on some OD tactical nylon footwear and head gear to complete the ensemble.

Interesting mid point between my stages. Basicly I have four bags, one is huge and not in the pic. The closest I have to a Murse is the tiny hip\shoulder slung Max. I find that it can carry day trip basics and some emergency materials, first aid\fire and a tiny bit more, that's about it. I use it primarily to carry water and a sammich while metal detecting out of town. Or in town at times.

This thread is an utter fail. We don't have anything on those guys over in Busse. :(

Okay, I retract my last statement. :p

dresnor, the rig turned out real nice. I owe tradewater for the idea of modular add-ons to a water bottle holder.

Here it is - totally cooler than the backpack for all the daily necessities and my two daughters just love the fact that their dad has a "murse"; that and the fact that the concealed carry compartment conceals...bacon jerky (and skittles, you know, for blood sugar drops;))

and I'm not dumping it out (cause I've got private man-stuff in there) but there is my 11 in there and I'm working on a little smaller sheath for my 16 so I can replace the B.O.B. knife.

Also, I'm lucky cause I have this old flip phone (my only phone) that fits perfectly in the "not smartphone compatible" phone pouch...

Just in case you're wondering, it's made by Fox Tactical and was ~ $30 if I remember - made pretty well for something a third of the price of a MaxPed.
