Okay, who doesn't have an Opinel? Winners!

Now I have an Opinel!

I just got a surprise (and very welcome) visit from Omar (OHALLUM), who hand delivered to me my new Opinel N°08 Inox with Walnut handle.
I've been showing it off in the office/warehouse. As expected, it's getting good reviews:D

It was a pleasure to meet you Omar, and thanks again for this really nice knife.

I will have to let it grow on me and develop a personality before I decide if and how I might modify it. It looks just fine the way it is for now:

The Walnut color didn't come through real good. I will definitely get some better pics with a real camera soon.

The pleasure was all mine, and I am pleased that you like the knife. It isn't often that we get to meet in person some of the posters on this forum, and it was great to meet up with Flymon today. I found out that if you need any used cars, bongos, and other things that you might be afraid to ask for, that this is the man to see.
Seriously, though he is what I picture most of the participants of the "traditional" forum to be like, which is genuinely friendly and just a overall nice guy. I really had a blast participating in Carl's give away, and thank him for allowing us to join in on the fun.

Blessings,

Omar

Great to see this turned into three winners.

Flymon especially. He sent me an un-solicited GEC Northfield #23 Yellow Rose and single-handedly pulled me back into traditional folders after 22? years or so out side the circle.

As soon as I saw Flymon say he did not have one, I was going to pm him for his address, and send him my one and only.

And I am the one who says I never win anything.......

I received my winnings today - a beautiful new No8 Carbone. Many thanks to Carl @jackknife and Dan @silenthunterstudios for the wonderful gift. The knife actually came from Dan while Carl facilitated the shipping.

I've had a pretty rough time finding traditional knives that I can use (RA compromised) and a few folks here have recommended the Opinels as an option. This makes this gift even more special to me as it enables me to try one out without buying one only to find I can't open it. That has happened a couple times over the past couple months and gets frustrating.

Well......I can open this one easily! I can see more Openils in my future.

Thanks so much Carl and Dan - you made my day!

Congrats, Stan! That is a great knife to win on a GAW. My one and only Opinel is a No.7 Carbone that I also won here on the traditional forum. It is also one of my favorite single blade knives. :) This place is great! Gentlemen such as Carl and Dan are what make this community so great.

You're very welcome, Stan. Being a sufferer from ostio arthritis in my hands, I can identify with your needs of an easy opening knife. The Opinel won my loyalty in that department, and I ended up with multiples of them. They in fact, were the trigger for my foray into the world of friction folders. Use them well.

Carl.
