Olamic Wayfarer

Wow...small world! I remember you. That was back in the old days! Never saw the BM710 with juma, but I might have to look around for it.

Aside from you and I, Ben Morrill of Australian Addiction also frequents BF. Here are a few pics of the 710, just to add to the reptile theme.

Back on topic, Olamic Cutlery is awesome!

Normally I wouldn't be a white G10 kind of guy, but I couldn't say no to this one.

Another nice one KnifeHoarder. I'm not a white G-10 advocate but the combination with the LSCF clip and backspacer plus the bronze hardware including liners goes very well. Great pictures!

Like Eugene of Olamic says: "never the same" - meaning - "make as many one-offs as possible".

Thanks! I wasn't a fan of white G10 until I saw the way this one has been polished. They really make it look more like ivory that way.

And yeah, they're not putting out much of anything the same way twice these days. I think Eugene wants people to understand these are literally full custom knives (despite the fact that they sell for mid-tech prices). I was amazed when he told me most everything is hand-milled, not CNC. Neat guy, neat company, and neat knives. No complaints whatsoever.

I had a long talk with Eugene this weekend at ECCKS, great guy. Very cool. I've always wanted a Wayfarer but he absolutely convinced me. That's definitely going to be my next knife.

My friend picked up a Wayfarer at ECCKS on Friday... I've been talking about Wayfarers to him since I decided I wanted one, and when he saw them at the show and talked to Eugene- he took the plunge... I personally love how they are all so different and basically custom.

This is another one I picked up from Eugene directly. After going "blam!" with the first two, I wanted something simple/understated after seeing how slick Ram's looks. This one is straight carbon fiber with regular grind satin blade and full filework on the polished frame and backspacer. This one feels LIGHT and flips like a dream. They're big, but they don't feel like it in the pocket, and the ergonomics are shockingly good. I'm clearly hooked.

Since seeing pictures of the Olamic Wayfarer, I just can't bring myself to buying (yet another) ZT, BM, etc.

This thread has been the most helpful source of some user information, opinions and comparisons. Thank you all!

But I still have a couple of questions:

1.) I take it that "Eugene" is a contact at Olamic. What role does he play?

2.) Can their knives be purchased directly, or do they strictly work through dealers? If direct, how?

3.) Since everyone here seems to agree that each knife is a custom "one off," what sites give a potential buyer the best looks at the most available options? Or, instead, does a potential purchaser just wait (and invest a whole lot of time at the screen) until one becomes available, then decide if it is as close as possible to the desired configuration?

I'm not a newb to knives, but am a Wayfarer newb.

Thanks for your patience and any helpful info you choose to share!

1) I'm the co-founder, along with my father
2) Most are available through dealers but we do build to order

I love the look of Wayfarers, I just wish they weren't so big. If they made a smaller 3-3.25" bladed version I'd buy it in a second.

I agree, but would be more in the 3.5-3.75 range ;)
I like 'em bigger for EDC, but only ever carried one the size of the Wayfarer, and it just felt too large, and was a little to big to use around most people if needed.

Eugene! How've you been?
I still have to send my Wayfarer in to you to get fileworked, I've been busy buying knives though lol. I'll contact you soon about that.

Now that it's spring, any details on those 3.5" Wayfarers? Can we expect to see some soon?

Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Hey Tyler, we're actually working on a couple of new models to launch this year... I'm putting together a notification list of ALL the people I've communicated with, so once details/dates are settled, I'll send out an update.

Man, that's awesome! I was excited for the 3.5" Wayfarer, but new designs have me even more excited!

I can't wait to see them:thumbup:
