Old Bonecutter Picture

Gasp - is warty a mac user? Not that I dislike them or anything... Just that I generally use Win 7 most as I game a decent bit. I actually have Win 7, Win XP, Ubuntu and Snow Leopard all on my comp. I was toying around with trying to run my i7 at 4.25GHz from a stock of 2.66GHz and ended up corrupting some files, hence the need for a reinstall. Those are really the only times I've had problems with BSODs or other issues

I had thought that had been made abundantly clear by now. How else could I put up such nice pictures?
You can't do that with a PC, at least not as easily as I am doing with my iMac.
I will have some Linux servers and such as soon as the network is fixed up again and up and running.
Until then I will be exclusively on my iMac and even afterward, I will use the iMac most of the time.
It is just the easiest for me to use and I like it as it is just more intuitive to use as well.
Plus, I have far less to worry about when it comes to viruses and worms etc.

Get a mac, use it, and you will Never go back to a windows box!

How do the BCs chop (old and new styles) compared to CAK or M-43?

Well I agree that by default, OSX is much better for multimedia and such... also seeing as though the OS is very much in the minority, fewer people make viruses for it (OSX is not "safer" - it has just as many (if not more) holes than Windows). And while it's much more intuitive and harder to mess up, it's also more difficult to alter to your liking (because Apple doesn't like that ;))

Like I said, my main reason for going with Windows 7 is because I'm a gamer and also because I like to get the most bang for my buck.

You're kidding right? No offense but macs are overpriced and over-hyped. Admittedly, I like the OS for multimedia, but that's my opinion of just the OS and not macs as a whole. Macs are definitely not "would-never-go-back-to-windows" worthy. And no, I'm not a windows fanboy - this is coming from someone who has a partition of 4 OSes on his computer.

I guess for people who want simplicity, macs are a good choice - especially over pre-built PCs like compaqs or dells (if you're willing to dish out the extra money). I personally think that people should built their computers to their liking... you get a lot more bang for your buck, gain a lot of valuable knowledge and can set up your system however you like ;)

On a side note - Did I mention my computer has a starbucks bottle in it... holding water? ;)

Well there are really too many factors to make anything more than generalized statements and it's also very dependent on what you're chopping into...

The CAK has a relatively obtuse bevel and is generally quite heavy for it's size. This means it tends to act like an ax, blowing chunks out of wood. The design makes it quite a good chopper with nice edge retention, but makes it a worse candidate for springier wood and such.

The m43 on the other hand, tends to be lighter/thinner, more forward curved and with a reasonably acute bevel. It gets a lot of its chopping power from the added momentum inherent in it's fairly curved design. It probably isn't as great a chopper as a CAK, but it bites deep into wood, won't wear you out as much, and will handle springier objects a bit better.

Now the BC pretty much has the weight of a CAK going for it, combined with a VERY acute bevel... a lot of weight behind a very sharp wedge = a very deep bite (at the cost of lowered edge retention). However, if the edge is well hardened/tempered, it can be a great trade-off. I'd say that the older BCs with their very wide bevels can probably outchop both the m43 and the CAK, but I'm sure a lot of people will disagree on that point

This famous knife is an old, original knife made by Kamis from days past.
Some of the older HI Kamis made a few recently, but it didn't look like the old design. The blade they made was a cross between the old Bonecutter and Ganga Ram.

So, we told the Kamis to stop making the knife until we could get a picture of the original so they can duplicate this beautiful Knife.

I will post updates on the Kamis progress with the Bonecutter. Thank you for your patience.

Awesome news! Can't wait for an update!

I personally use *nix, but all OS's have good and bad things going for them. Let's not turn this into an OS war, ok?

I never cease to be impressed with Yangdu's attention to quality and her customers. From updating the site to getting the Bonecutter back to it's original state... Just impressive. Great job!

I stopped a while back, seems it is you and Killa who seem to be continuing...

As for the Bone Cutters, this is some of the best news I have heard from Yangdu in a while. Just when I figured I had all the khuks I wanted, she goes all old school on the Bone Cutter on me and makes me want those now. Looks like I need to be on the look out for them as well as the knives I had thought were my current favored chum. Not that the knives will be back seated, just that they will hold an equal place for me... ;)

Haha - I just enjoy getting off topic at times. I make use of every OS as each has it's pluses and minuses. It was mostly soldbyjim's comment that got me going :p

As for these old style BCs, I'll definitely be wanting to pick one up. I just hope I can afford it when the first couple of them are posted! :(
