Old Friends Friday

It’s all done but the sharpening. I ordered a replacement sheath rather than try to re-stitch the old one. The metal rivets on the sheath are rusting and falling off anyway.

Nice work Tom
I realized the hatchet was BSA-stamped AFTER I attacked the rust on it with coarse sandpaper…
Oops!

Reading of a challenge to carry one knife for one year inspired me to look up this old friend.
It had been easy for me to carry it every day for eight years because I liked it, and during those years it was the only pocket knife I owned. The only reason I stopped carrying it was because I got a job that on occasion cause me to work in an environment that covered everything in a very abrasive dust, including the interior of my pockets. The old trapper was being damaged by that dust, so it was deemed best to leave it at home until I got a different job.
That was 50 plus years ago. I'm certain its exemplary performance during those eight years influenced my trapper purchases from then on. Today it could easily function as an exclusive EDC except that it is semi-retired, and I have a few others that I enjoy. :)

r8shell might feel friendlier toward this knife than I do, but I've had it a long time and it's a good one.
Powrkraft USA. For (Montgomery) Ward's I believe.
