I agree with soaking in vinegar for a couple days and hitting with wire brush. I'd at least give it a chance for life.

I wonder if Ferric Chloride might be ok to soak it in or would that be to much

Too much imo. Vinegar (5% acid) should eat away the existing corrosion without doing further damage.
