"Old Knives"

You did JR proud Ed. Eric and Charlie expressed my sentiments exactly.

I expect he was and that’s what I was thinking. About all early DEs were Empire made D.
Whenever you can let that Utica go, I’ve got stuff to trade and a little money .:)

Lol you're persistent Mr. Frye... I still take that knife out from time to time to try and free up some of the internal grime working oil into it. Im reluctant to use a better displacement fluid as they usually have an odor. What do you think?

Not real old, but not new either. Picked this pair of Case slipjoints with some other stuff. Very happy with the Congress, as they are getting hard to find in any condition, and the re-issue knives are not up to this in fit or finish. I love how low the blades sit on these older ones!

Wonderful knives appear on this thread!! A great bunch lately!!
A momentary switch to big knives, here's a knife Napanoch made for Sears(Wilbert)!:)
BTW, The Old Dog loved this pattern!! It influenced many of his blade grinds, and indeed, Knives!!:cool:RIPWilbert Saddle 1.jpg Wilbert Saddle 2.jpg

D, the spey blade in the last FJ I got and posted was almost frozen when in the open position. I used a product called “Deep Creep” I purchased from a box auto parts store. That knife has ebony handles, but I would have used it on any except celluloid. I don’t worry much about the smell. :) It’s very manageable now.
I am obsessed with the farmers jacks, wherever they are, to some’s (not yours) I’m afraid ,agitation .

WOW Lyle!!! I love the pattern and what Gems you have:thumbsup:

WOW Charlie!!! my gosh, look at those covers and cut swages:cool::cool::cool::thumbsup:

Charlie, Spectacular Saddlehorn :eek::eek:

Kevin, nice picture of 3 lovely pearl knives.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Good Robeson jack, Un-Chained.:thumbsup:
Charlie, that Wilbert saddle horn is exceptional.:thumbsup: Nicely patinated sabre clip blade with a great swedge, fantastic bone and a rattail bolster.
Lyle, two great Clements farmers jacks with blade etch, very nice.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The Springbrooke landed yesterday. It was shipped in a box almost big enough to put a pair of size 12 shoes in:confused: very well protected 2 1/4" knife:thumbsup: I believe I've posted the OVB already but they are nice as a pair. Goins lists Springbrooke as 1893-1920, a trademark of Dunham, Carrigan & Hayden.
