"Old Knives"

Here are seven Valley Forge folders. The two on the bottom right are VF in a circle marked meaning production by Boker in 1916 and after. The others are not VF marked meaning production prior to 1916. Although Boker bought Valley Forge in or around 1902 they did not take active management control until around 1916. Also, prior to 1916 the main three line address on the master blade tang is straight after 1916 Valley Forge on the primary tang is curved.

Nice VFs, Lloyd and Rachel, Et.Al!!

I came across this Tear Drop Jack, from New York Knife Co, Walden.
NYC moved to Walden in 1856.
The clip blade is full length, and has quite a deep belly, and both blades were marked before "Hammer Brand" was introduced. This may place this over-cleaned knife before 1880!! The shield might have been set too high, and was polished to a razor edge and beyond (factory second?). Handles look like darkened cocobola. 3 5/8" knife, shaped to a graceful Teardrop, typical of NYK's aesthetic!!
Beautiful Wabi-Sabi knife IMO!!;)TD Jack 1.jpg TD Jack 2.jpg
Scratches are mine, not the knife's!!:(

lol @ Mike! :D
Oh Boy- Charlies Den!.... most would give anything to see that- But would they ever return?

That's a stunning old knife Charlie - cleaned or not cleaned- having one is amazing - and yours looks great!
Thanks Duncan!! Here's one that was sitting next to that NYK - found it at the same time; it's an Empire Winsted Ct. You might call it a small toenail, or a fat pen. It's a single spring knife, 3 3/8".
Pick bone, both blades marked, signs of an older knife, this one may also precede the turn of the last Century!!Fat Pen 1.jpg Fat Pen 2.jpg

I need one of these magical knife producing dens I think. Couple of nice ones. Really nice bone on the Empire and that is a beefy blade!

WOW, Charlie, the pick bone is awesome, and just L:eek::eek:K at that pointy tip on the fat spear! A dream knife.:thumbsup:
Looks like it's barely been used or carried! But it hasn't been hiding in my den since 1900 (I don't think??)!! Thanks, Jeff!!:)
