Here's a neat one (to me). Has a patch job in the corners of the bone, but doesn't take away from the knife IMO.

Nice ones Glenn and Mike!
Here is another I picked up from Roger. Buffalo Cutlery Co. stockman with a punch. Only time I have seen the diamond shield used in a knife of this era other than on a Shapleigh. This one I believe was made by Schrade, kind of a transition jigging pattern between the old pick bone and the peach seed.

A stunner there Charlie!!Schrade used the plain Diamond for Buffalo!!View attachment 1773732View attachment 1773740
Buffalo News 1916!! The above EJ is later than 1916!!
I thought I had read that somewhere but can't remember where I read it. That could be the case here that some knives intended for Shapleigh were rebranded under Buffalo.Buffalo bought a lot of seconds off of Schrade Cut Co and then shaved the tangs and put their own tang stamp on (or had it done). It's very possible that yours (and Charlie's beauty) started out as Shapleigh contract knives.
Both of them are stunning!

It's always great to hear these tidbits of History, Eric!! Are you still involved with that Museum project??Buffalo bought a lot of seconds off of Schrade Cut Co and then shaved the tangs and put their own tang stamp on (or had it done). I can swear I see a ghosted “E” on p&g’s first picture there Cal. I would imagine they buffed the shields smooth ??Did they remove the DE from the shields, or turn the shields over, or ....?
Wow, good eye, I had not even noticed it, but you are right I had to give it another look under a magnifying glass but there is a faint E remaining on the shield.I can swear I see a ghosted “E” on p&g’s first picture there Cal. I would imagine they buffed the shields smooth ??

Sorry about your loss, Eric!! Puts more burden on your shoulders, I assume!!Charlie, yes I'm still involved at the museum. Actually headed over there this weekend to do some re-arranging of the displays. We lost our President and his wonderful wife to the damned covid this past winter so it's definitely with some sadness that we head in to this new season.
Those are some nice ones. And look at that wear and patina! I recently rescued an old Case 6265 SAB that I will have to get a picture up on here.Good questions!! Not all "Buffalos" used the Diamond!!View attachment 1773761View attachment 1773763View attachment 1773765
