"Old Knives"

A while ago I picked up the Harness Jack knife, thought of Charlie being an HJ and also stamped Buffalo- Like Charlies old stomping ground........

I like this one! Love the Bone love the long Pull and Swage work, in natural light the warmth of the lovely jigged Bone is extremely nice- although my photos don't show this at all well, ( I have yet to be able to find a decent spot in our new home to take photo's) so sorry about the poor quality photos.
The Caps make a nice difference don't they? At one stage a wee Handle pin went for a walk :)
Someone has given the Tang a ween punch as you see the 5 dots- yet the Blades match perfectly to the springs, everything is as it should be, the Walk and Talk is superb- stout and crisp!

Typical Schrade quality, Buffalo stamp Tang Goins has from 1900 to 1920.

Nice score, Duncan!!! I'm headed to Buffalo on Monday night!!!

Thanks Charlie- still not the pristine type of HJ - finding them is impossible now unless you do swaps and trades among known groups, but on the net for sale- boy!!
I am pretty sure that Paul and I drive past the sign to go to Buffalo once we got off the Plane and drove a while to GEC.
From memory - did I also see a sign to Utica?
But I do like this one !

So basically Charlie these Buffalo are Schrade Cut CO’s would that be correct?

I have a small collection of "Buffalo Cut.", and they all appear to be Schrade-made!!Buffalo Cutlery Jack.jpgBuffalo Elec 1.jpgBuffalo English 1.jpg
The Jack is a relic, but the other two are unused!!

Ha Ha!!!

LOVE that Waynorth Cutlery Photo Charlie,
Is that where you got your Waynorth Handle from Charlie, in the beginning I thought it was because you were in Canada 🤣

ok, as things are a little crazy here, is there the GEC Rendevouz again very soon?

The Relic is such a neat piece! Having beautiful Pocket Worn Pic Bone - so that would be the earliest of the lot then? Those unused Peachseeds kind make the Knees go weak.

Travel safe!

Not being totally up to date with Shapleigh information, but am I right in thinking this is pre 1940 otherwise it would have Simmons included in the Tang Stamping? I have looked through Schrade's Catalog E and although there is a couple of Harness Jack Knives- not this one.

This Knife was in a group of Knives I purchased that some of you have seen recently, A nice Peach-seed Harness Jack Knife,

The Spear has B330 on the Pile side, Gorgeous Knife, used but in nice condition, apologies for the Uncleaned condition- the Peach-seed is harbouring a lot of Dirt - so I will clean this up before I store the Knife.

Thanks Rachael, the flat sided blades are thinner than expected:thumbsup:
Thanks Duncan, I'll keep an eye out for Lyle 🤣 that's a handsome pair of HJs, Schrade quality was unsurpassed in my opinion
Charlie, there's a couple of exquisite Buffalos in that trio😎😍

Thanks for the kind comments :)

Awesome! I think back all the time to when I was there- I think a second time would always be better- one day hopefully! Have a great time Charlie!

Garland Cutlery, 1913 to 1940. Lovely Bone on this Knife- in fact the Bone looks somewhat better than these photos because of the harsh lighting.

Blades have been cleaned- not by me- yet they still have Sharpening Marks- so I'm guessing an attempt to make the Knife a little better before sale- I don't like buying cleaned Knives and photo's ( close ups ) were not a thing where I purchased this from, in saying this Im still glad to have this Knife- I really like the Bone and it's Jig work and it's Colouring that beats hand down the Photo Colouring.
What I believe is the original Button chain?
Iron Bolsters, Iron Hammered Pins - I think it's just a neat Knife all round.

Lovely strong Walk and Talk ( I mustn't have taken open Knife photo's- can't find them for the life of me?).

Charlie, that third knife with the diamond shield… wow!! 😎

I don’t have any “new” old knives to share, so I’ll just post this pic of a knife that I shared here a while back, along with a Keen Kutter axe/hatchet that I’ve had for a few years.
