"Old Knives"

Interesting you should mention Stan Shaw, Duncan!! I took another look at that Ibberson above, and sure enough Stan's initials are in it, with the year 57!!!
SS-57 stamped in the liner!!! Too small to get a picture!!View attachment 2751079
A Stan Shaw knife I didn't know I had!!🤯😎
The skill to put these little knives together borders on superhuman!!!
Great to have a Stan Shaw knife, Charlie! I saw one at the OKCA show a few years and am still kicking myself for not picking it up.

I have not had a pearl handled knife for many years but I do remember it being somewhat fragile, but how much care is needed in handling one, maybe I'm mis remembering from my more rambunctious years and there tougher then I remember. But so many of the knives I see for sale have cracks were the pins are placed.

I bought this one from a Gentleman in Argentina. I was really sweating, but it did finally show up, and it is not going anywhere soon. I know that I have shown these knives before but I wanted to bump them because I deleted a bunch of posts awhile back to make room for more. After some research and questions back and forth from experts, it has never been firmly established whether the covers are tortoise (sic. sea turtle) or celluloid.

What a nice thing to see when I strike up this ol' Computer!
Charlie what an amazing surprise!! I bet that really was a moment - if I listen carefully- I think I can hear the rumble of all the Bladeforum members running to their collections and digging out their Ibberson's!

I have to be honest, each time I pic up an Ibberson I always look for that- never have I struck Gold like you have. So good to see Charlie!😃

Some astonishing Knives, with a surprise guest sneaking into the show and giving us a lift- Stan Shaw cameo appearance!

Another beauty Dan, we could lay good money on the Table that the Cerrick Bros. is Sheffield made - what a honey of a Knife!

Cal, Looking at that Tortoise shell-, I am sure in that time period the real deal was used, I just had a wee peek into T.Renshaw the company ran from 1876 and Mr G Tweedale states there is no record of business after 1900.
That's an amazing piece there, have you displayed this in the Golden age of Sheffield thread Cal?
Love the Henckels from Roland 😍

I love Sheffield Knives, i am embarrassed that I don't have more, they are always such a great point of discussion.

That looks like tortoise to me.

Oh, I just remembered I have this Ulster, with a very narrow file on the back.
