"Old Knives"

Great knives, as usual Lyle. Here's another American Shear.

Wow a lot has happened since I last checked in.

Cal ,I used to talk to Lee a lot Let us know how he's doing and tell him hello from Lyle. Those early Schrades look like Walden Handle Factory (Stag Shop c 1905-1915 ) recipients.

Those handles look like what I call Salisbury bone that appears on many early knives. I have a pictures of it on various early companies including another American Shear knife, many Holleys, Curley Cutlery, and Hatch. Here's that American Shear:

Nice that NYK looks like the surveyor pattern? Cool knife.
I’m not sure but here is a better picture of it. To me it looks very similar to a eureka jack as far as handle shape.

Wow again Mike. It' almost unfair to us other collectors to see a piece of cutlery that exquisite. To clarify , That picture of the American Shear I posted is not my knife. I'm glad it brought out yours. My American Shear FJ is not in the class of either pictured , but I'm glad to have :) it.

You are right , and a dandy it is.

Wow, that's a nice one.
I've never heard the term 'Salisbury bone'. Does it refer to the coloring, or jigging, or something else?

Amazing!
It was a handle company in Salisbury in Holley territory, that are verified to have supplied Holley and others. Using what bone handles appeared on these that were similar , I assumed that it was the Salisbury Handle Factory's rendition of jigged bone at that time Rachel. These are not my knives , but pictures shared on the internet:

Salisbury bone maybe Holley old (1).jpg

Holley. This was mine. :)

Another Holley.

Another Holley and a couple of my early Ulsters look similar. I think it's enough evidence to form an opinion( for me at least).

Hey guys,

Forgive my ignorance please, but referencing Robeson POCKETEZE knives, is it pronounced "pocket-easy" or "pocket-eeez"?

Inquiring mind wishes to know.

Came across this Wallkill River Works Boy Scout a while ago, why it grabbed my attention was the Patented Punch that we don't see all that often in comparison to others.
Very nice condition, a wee adjustment on the small screwdriver part- but to be honest that is neither here or there with this knife, I'm pleased to have it.
Well made as you would expect from the New York Knife Co family- even though Wallkill was meant to be a 2nd tiered option. Pleased I got it after umming and aaaahing, Wallkill Box is nice condition as well, unfortunately the box isn't original to the Boy Scout Knife, but still very worthy of being in the shot.
The box is for the W5, and after chart hunting the W5 is a two bladed Jack, I will bump into one of those one day I'm hoping. :)

Another Older Scout came in as well, this was a pleasant surprise, the auction had little attention, the Knife looked cleaned, I was very pleased to see that it has not been cleaned and is in absolutely unused condition.
Crucible Knife Co. N.Y, Funny as the Wallkill and this Crucible are very much the same age ( perhaps), Wallkill 1920-1931, the Crucible - (brand name of W.T.Grant) 1921 -1932.

Some time ago Paul Hilborn and Augie pulled a mean trick on me- Augie graciously sending me the Crucible through Paul, Paul notified me to say that there was a hole in the package ( with photo of damaged package) and that the Crucible was gone - Pauls knife luckily was still inside the package- Mn did my heart skip a few beats- the b&*#@!^s 🤣😂
So I was pleased that this one made it to me safely ;)

Another nice line up M majorpain1 - likin' that Russell Jack!

Here is a Taylor Eye Witness that came visiting, The Wood handle will look a World of difference once I oil it up! Strong Spring that demands respect for sure, Love the wee bit of a Stove Pipe on this, the Wood is beautiful.
Not showroom quality by any means, I just find it very hard to walk past a T.E.W
