"Old Knives"

We know NYK, Walden Knife Co. , and Schrade had a joint venture in the Walden Handle Factory that produced much of the pick bone we have.
Cal's Schrade looks exactly like NYK and Challenge jigging to me.😳🤷

Which leads me to speculate that one of those three made this Krakauer Zork Moyes knife:

That's exactly what I was alluding too, only that maybe their latter stuff could have been used by not only Schrade , but maybe NYK and others such as Challenge. My speculation. :)

I would guess your knife is Challenge made. I believe as is my KZM&sucs. The owners of the KZM&sucs. hardware had ethic connections to the owners of Challenge and your knife and mine also resemble Challenge offerings. That's just my guess.

One of these is marked Challenge and the other is marked KMZ&sucs.

Wasn't Challenge Cutlery absorbed by Schrade in 1928, after Challenge shut down because the owner went to his next life?

At least Challenge Cutlery (1891-1928) was a "Premium" manufacturer.

If Schrade, Walden, and NYKC knives are post 1928, perhaps Schrade was using Challenge jigging patterns, since they owned Challenge?
I THINK Walden Knife became part of Schrade (Schrade Walden years were made in the old Walden factory, as well. I know NYKC/ Hammer Brand did, in the 1930's after NYKC went belly up. Imperial - Schrade bought at least the names and intellectual properties at the bankruptcy sale.

It is curious that Schrade , Challenge , and NYK had handles almost exactly alike at one point in time , regardless .

Yes , Schrade getting the Challenge equipment after Challenge's demise might be the best answer. There were a lot of similarities in the companies handles' looks until Schrade started peachseed jigging. These mysteries intrigue me.
