"Old Knives"

Justin, two nice examples, Love that style of jig work Schrade used, I think that came right after the Pic Bone and bot did they do it right!

Here is it's smaller brother.. the Bone is starting to transition into the Peachseed- although not quite the full on Peach Seed jigging we know.

Not the nicer photo by any means, but a clearer shot of the etch

Amazing Catt Toe Nails Mike, each one is fantastic, I very much like that example with the Hand Hammered Pins!

Wow, stunning knife Duncan! As much as I am a fan of carbon steel, the stainless knives do help to ensure that the blades, for the most part, won't be eaten up by rust over the years.

Thanks Glenn, Schrade Cut Co with their Stainless movement at that time for the company- I'm unsure if Schrade had any other SS earlier?

Been awhile since I've been able to add a nice jumbo jack to the pile. Found this American Shear & Knife Co jumbo, just over 4", big and beefy with the main spring more than twice as thick as the pen. Company closed in 1917 so this knife is in decent condition for being over 100 years old. I'm begining to think that true jumbos are even harder to find than sheepsfoot jacks.

That's in amazing shape duncan,I have been viewing alot of different pictures of pic bone the last few days and at one time thought I had it pegged, I was excepting that pic bone resembled what I would describe as scatter shot from a shotgun, then I noticed that pic bone started resembling scatter shot at 20 degrees angle,in other words what was first a small indented circle is sometimes a long nick on certain knife handles.

Thank you for the kind comments everyone on the stainless - doesnt quite get close to those stunning EO's above though ^^ :)

Real nice Stainless Augie, I was wondering when Schrade first used Stainless- and it's great putting it out there for discussion.

That EO is gorgeous, and the Jumbo is something else- LOVE that blade Grind.

Now as Oldy said, interpretations of Bone can vary - especially when a jig style is very much in the middle of - say like for instance this case between Schrades first - their Pic Bone, and then they went to their first "Peach Seed" type of Jig Work, Charlie from memory called it "Divot" which was the predecessor to the Peach Seed Bone we know.

Augie - pure discussion here my friend- I wouldn't have called that Bone Pic Bone - but more the "Divot" - as well that lovely EO has that beautiful wave going through it - just stunning. Hey...this is only my interpretation my friend, yours seems a stunning Hybrid of the two:eek:

Two types here, Schrade Cut Co's one showing earlier curved stamp with the Pic Bone ( Top of photo)
The bottom Knife I would call more the "Divot" Jig style Bone..... YET....these are very close to each other

Here is what I call Pic Bone on Schrade Cut Co....

Pile side - the Pic Bone "Pics" get bigger and more grouped.

And of course the Peach Seed as we know it....
