R8shell, I have an old Keen Kutter with a similar divot out of the clip as your spey. I always assumed it was "arc-ed" while doing some electrical work.

mine came ready to strip wire as well.

That's what made me buy it was the bone,I like that the old bone which had that deep dieing process that when the dark brown faded it it didn't show the white bone underneath,it faded to that beautiful honey golden look.

Although I'm not a fan of polishing the blades on old knives, at least the person who polished the master blade on this did a decent job. It looks like they didn't round over the blade/swedge transition very much.
