"Old Knives"

Is there a reason very few knives today come with the blade emblem punched instead of painted,you would think that alot of makers and distributors of knives would like the etch to last by being punched or does it weaken the blade,there has been so many unique etches that I would have liked to see survive countless uses

I, too, like stamped blades!!Old School Eng Jack 1.jpgThis stamping would indeed last the life of the knife!!

The knife below is very old - near 200 years!!! The Oates name still quite visible!!
