"Old Knives"

Fausto, very interesting knives, thanks for sharing. I love to see those worn old knives, wish they could talk.
Jake, great find I love cattle knives. Could you post photo of the spear point blade please.
JD I can not tell you anything about your knife but I find the combination of clip point blade with swedge and long pull very appealing.

What a great thread!

Mike, There's not much left of the spear and it's been reshaped so the tip is not exposed when the knife is closed. I bought it for about the cost of a RR knife and think that I'll enjoy using it.

Thanks Jake. The spear point blade has been reshaped nicely and is looking very elegant. It has a lot of life in it and will be great user. A little bit of TLC and the knife will look even better. I think you did well on this.

I agree ^^^ cool knife there Jake  N/S Bolsters and ebony....when they get old and patina'd...doesnt it become an unbeatable combination!!
I think the spear as the smaller blade instead of a pen looks great.

Tony and I attended the old timey knife swap in Coal City, Indiana today and saw many fine old knives. This one especially caught our eyes and we were able to bring it home on loan to size up and pattern. It's an old Schatt & Morgan Swayback with Titusville stamp (1896-1931). This knife's vintage falls somewhere around 1910 (possibly before, I think) due to hammered pins and the style of iron bolster and iron caps. With great wormgroove bone and nicely used sheep's foot blade, possibly shortened a bit and some of the edge has receded from use, but still a grand old gal. Oh yeah...It is 4 3/8" long.

Nice loaner! It will make a neat pattern. Very graceful lines to this one. I notice the rear pin "hooks" the mainspring and does not go through it?

Thanks for sharing,

Yeah...its pretty cool eh guys  ^^^
Jake..everytime you post your lovely knives...Im sure we all sit upright and go WOW!!

Nice Catt, Jake. It would be nice to see modern production knives with bone as attractive as those old babies!

Kerry, that "loaner" pattern is way cool. With the sheepfoot at full length and width it will make an amazing knife! Can't wait to see the Wilfredization of that one!! Tell Tony, if he's lost my address, I'll be happy to re-send it!:D

hi everyone

this is my cheap knife, I bought it in 2003 just for Rp8000,- (less than $1 :) )
it made of low quality metal of course, the handle made of unknown wood and shaped like a shrimp.
