"Old Knives"

Vince, Pistonsandgears and Simple Man, great looking knives. The carve on the ivory handle is fantastic, the bone on the Voos is real gem and the Crucible tear drop jack is just cool knife.

Vince,

There have been many stunning and wonderful items posted here by you and others, allowing us to see items far beyond our reach.

This carved ivory handle is superb.

Thank you,

Mike H.

Mike my friend, you took the words right out of my mouth

Hi. Just having another look through the thread. Thanks everyone for posting so many cutlery treasures for us to enjoy. Regarding flush joint construction; here's an end view of a few examples. The tang is flush with the end of the bolsters in all three positions. I hope this helps.

That is a special kinda of pretty there s-k. I understand the terminology now, but that raises another question. What is the proper term for what I like?

I have been blessed with very nice deep jigging on both this one and the Robeson recently. Here is the backside.

I can try to get better pics of the flush joint tomorrow, but these show it pretty well. And I may be referring to it wrongly. What I am talking about is that the pivot end of the blade sits below, at, or very close to the scale when the blades are closed, giving them fewer sharp points in the pocket.

I think that is a sunken joint. Very good as the sharp corner at the top of the tang is hidden and won't ruin your pockets.

Nice advertiser chouse.I think I worked at the Monessen,Pa Koppers coke battery as a bricKlayer for a short time.I left the rebuild for a rebuild in a blast furnace in Provo,Utah.

s-k, I'm going to save this pic for use in future discussions if you don't mind.

That is a beauty, I love the ones that you can tell have been lovingly used with character, but not beat to death. I bet it could tell some stories.

chouse -that's a vey cool knife - I really like the look of that - the styling of the advertising stamping, and Remingtons stampings on the blade look great!

Thanks, I was real pleased by that one Campbell, the VOOS Jacks are WAY undervalued in my opinion for what you get . Awesome bone, nice smooth action, and spear points. I guess they made a whole slew of them, with little to no variation keep the price down. Works for me.
