"Old Knives"

That is gorgeous, Trand!

Thanks. As with most pearl, it looks better in hand than it does in pics. I touched the blades up with a ultra fine Spyderco stone and it a new edge easily. I didn't say but its about 3" closed with a 2" main blade.

A lot of great knives. Thanks for posting them Jeff, Simple Man, Trand and, last, but not least, Gevonovich. We need to see the blades open on that last one.

Love it, Gev, and the pearl too, Trand. Great stuff.

Thanks, Jeff

how long is that knife. Got to make that shield!

Its 3 & 11/16 exactly, Rick. Let's call it the Queen Fork shield:D

Nice barn find Simple.:)Looks beautiful now,you did good.Charlie knows his stuff.

Jeff that is a premium maker and that bone is excellent.

Trand I might have a new pearl to trade for that old one.:D

Gevonovich can't wait to see that great pattern open.

That Eureka Jack is something else!!

Thanks for the kind words and offers :) as well. I took a few more pics to show the pearl and tang stamps. I have a feeling someone buffed this knife up a bit based on the red in the one chip by one of the pins but that's ok I guess. The main blade is stamped OVB with 1382 on the back. Both pen blades have the Hibbard Bartlett and Spencer Co. stamp. There isn't a stamp on the file blade.

Simple Man, that Robeson jack cleaned up really nicely. That bone is just superb. Congrats on that one.

Jeff, that swell center, equal end is very nice. Pretty bone on it, as well.

I see that pattern on the internet often referred to as a "swell center congress". Of course, that's not correct, as the top frame is straight. Maybe it's an optical illusion for some.

Just looked up the tang stamp on this Robeson grand-daddy barlow, and learned (from AAPK) that it was made in the 1940 - 1964 range, making it a bit older than I'd initially thought. I guess it belongs here, too, as my first post of any substance in this amazing thread.

Tang stamp reads:
ROBESON
SHUREDGE
U.S.A.

Pattern number on pile side is 512224, meaning sawcut bone handles, 1 blade, brass liners, pattern #224.
