"Old Knives"

Here is a real nice Roger's congress whittler. It's a total package complete with nice gnarly stag covers, tapered center liner (splitback), sheepsfoot main, beveled bolsters, and very cool tang stamps!!! I would venture to say that blades were rarely used as well. Enjoy!

Beautiful knife, Nick. I only have a couple Rodger's and would love to come across a fine old Whittler like that. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jamie! Rodger's and all the other Sheffield cutlers from back then really made some quality cutlery, particularly in the whittler pattern. As they say, it was a "golden era."

As the others have said Nick- awesome knife, not often you see a Rodgers like that- usually you will see ( if we are lucky ) a Whittler more so in Pearl in the early Rodgers - I havent as far as I can recall seen a Stag Congress that early from them ( in a Thread like this where someone actually owns one and shows it - compared to one being shown in an old Cutlers Catalog ).

S-K was bang on with the dating of course with the dating of the knife so yeah....thats a real nice knife right there!!!

Man...didnt early Sheffield and Early Solingen Cutlers do Stag - just perfect!

This one's old. Circa 1880s Taylor Eyewitness.

Really fine! Someone may have already stated this but the old Sheffield cutlers really had a gift for fitting up stag.

Nice knives posted!! That Binghamton is a rare one. The town is about 1 1/2 from me and I have researched it at the library there. The building that they were in is long gone although their last address was in the Ackerman Building which is still there.

Impressive Bill, looks to be in superb condition

Beautiful old Sheffields Steve and Nick. If Mike says that's a rare one Bill, you have a dandy.:):thumbup:
