still researching this robeson. according to ferguson's, the stamp(ROBESON over CUTLERY CO.) in a straight lines and on all three blades, dates to 1895-1900. 3 5/8" closed. tentatively id'd as a (X)32225 swell center whittler. i think the handles are horn.

jonet,

Sweet looking vintage Robeson!. You may get some luck in here, but if not, move it over to the ID forum. .

Here is another killer find for me a few years back...didnt get so hurt on this one.

Is that the one Tony used for the Yukon pattern? That's a nice old Knife.. It's a " Catt " isn't it?

Thanks BigD....Yep, it's Cattaraugus Yukon “King of the Woods”. This one is a linerlock, Tony's was patterned off the slipjoint version. The linerlock pictured here is stamped “patented July 5, 1906” right on the thumb tab. Kinda cool...huh?

I think he may have used this one....but I cant say for sure.

Vince told me this old Robeson 62262 was worthy of the "Old Knives" thread so here it is. Tang stamp is "Robeson Shuredge Rochester" putting it in the 1922-1939 range. Not really rare or special but I sure do like it. There is something etched on the blade that I can't quite make out. All I can distinguish is "EADER". It looks like an "H" before the "E" but I can't be sure.

Speaking of Robesons, I thought I read somewhere that this old Filmore has some Robeson roots as an import for them.If this is already posted here please excuse my poor memory.

Jason, here's a scan of an old Robeson "Harness Jack" that I was fortunate to have received from Waynorth during a little business we did back and forth.

The bone on these old Robeson's is truly beautiful.

Navihawk, Tom Kalcevic's book on Robeson states Fillmore Cutlery Co. was a Robeson brand from 1891 to 1895. That would make your knife well over 100 years old.
And it looks in great shape!

Wow! I have never seen a pattern quite like that!
Could you please post a pic of it closed?

Thanks,

Phil

A sorta fiddle-back locking toothpick?. I am just guessing of coarse. But, like Phil, I've never seen a pattern quite like it either. I like it.

It's an old Cattaraugus Yukon “King of the Woods”

In 2001, along with Tony Bose putting the pattern together, WR Case EDM wire cut a thousand of these as a Case/Bose Collaboration knife. Ground finished ATS-34 Blade, Stainless milled Liners and Autumn Jigged Bone. I always thought of it a Rat Tail Folding Hunter. I will get a pic of the original closed when I can...Here is the Case version in the mean time.

Thanks JpN!

I look forward to the closed pic; you need both to figure out where the pivot hole is.

Very interesting!!
Many thanks.
I would still like to see the original closed if possible.

I appreciate your help, Lord knows I have so much to learn.......

Darrell, that jigged bone looks positively tasty!
