"Old Knives"

That Ulster is very nice. I had an old Epson scanner that would no longer with the new OS on my Mac. I bought an Epson Perfection V500 a few years ago and can't seem to get the hang of it.

Thank you for the compliment on the Ulster, Mike. I may try to find an old Epson or Agfa. If necessary, I might install Linux on a chromebook and use that to operate the scanner.

A little change of pace from all the great looking Schrades. Here is another NY brand. Early oval stamp New York Knife 3 spring , 5 blades with etched master. My latest addition to my NYK

That's a good idea Jake. I wish I had kept my old scanner now.

Charles, that's truly incredible! Thanks for posting.

Charles, That's an outstanding 5 blade NYK....I have never seen a nicer one. As a side note that knife is one of the most expensive knives in the 1908 catalog at $42.00 per dozen. Thanks for sharing, Barry

It was a $5 bottom of the box knife, I dug through every knife and found three that I felt were worth picking up and the Kutmaster was one.

Thanks for the comments and information Barry. I know you have a great collection of NYKCo. knives, many of which you have shown here. I was pretty happy to find it at the Tulsa show last November and happy to be able to share.

In the meantime, picked up this UTICA made,PETERS SHOES.

Kinda scary how often we end up bidding against each other on the porch...:D

Congrats and I hope you enjoy it, it's an awfully nice old swell-end and that master looks almost untouched!

A few of the older swell-ends I picked up in recent weeks, prior to any cleanup short of a little oiling. From top to bottom: A Southington brass-handled jack with impressive swedging and a wicked sharp toothpick of a well-loved pen blade, a Fairmount Cutlery composite jack with a clip and overall build pretty typical of Camillus's mid-20th fare (in my amateur -- and amateurish :p -- knife-dating opinion  that clip sure does resemble the one on my Camillus Barlow), and an unusual, heavily-used Remington in what I'm about 75% sure is steel with what I'm significantly less sure are ebony inlays.

Some of these might be pushing the bounds of "old" in the context of this thread, as does the one below. :p

Old Kutmaster Stainless Jack Knife.

Neat knife, Ted. I also had one and the blades are plated but I believe that the steel is carbon. The handle is stainless.

It was a $5 bottom of the box knife, I dug through every knife and found three that I felt were worth picking up and the Kutmaster was one.

Kutmaster's stainless-handled offerings weren't always as elegant as the one you two gents share. This is one you probably wouldn't be seen toting around town unless you were a travelling vet. Kutmaster got a lot of use out of that "STAINLESS HANDLE" stamp, I imagine. :D

Oh, the things that hook must have seen...:D

Nice addition to your collection, Charles. I've never seen one of those knives in person. How is the lanyard loop attached to the knife? Is there a hole through the spring? Is it treaded or peened?
