"Old Knives"

Hey guys, What's the chance of this happening?

I had been eyeing up a Booth Bros. knife at a local antique store that 3 miles from my home. I passed the first time, went home a did some research. The blade was marked no offers, so I wasn't going to insult the man. A month later I said to myself, if that knife is still there I am going to buy it. Fact is I said to the fellow: I do not want to insult you but would you go $150.00 for this knife. He knew it was rare as did I. He took it and I had a fine blade.

Among collection vintage knives, I have also collected many Older Knife references. A few months after purchasing this knife I was looking through the book "New Jersey Cutlery" and I wandered over to the Booth Bros section. I saw a knife that looked really close to the one I had just purchased. It was interesting, that I went and grabbed mine, the rest was history, it was the same knife that I had bought a few months earlier in SC!

Jack let me share my ignorance what is the blade with the V cut into the tip used for?

It may be a cigar fork. Some of the older companies had these used to hold smaller cigars. That would be something to see (-: TD

Beautiful knife TD

Awesome find, Jack! A real treasure indeed!:thumbup:

Very cool knives Jack and Tinydog

That could be a hook disgorger.

Thanks a lot guys :) Gary has it, it's a hook-disgorger  The design is certainly no good for catch and release!

Guys,

Here another oldie in traditional pocket knives. Talk about a small pen knife! Perfect snap and action..... How did they do it? This guy from the original Union Razor co. 1902~1909 is 2 3/8 inches long and weighs in at a whopping 12 grams.

Union Razor bought out Tidioute Cutlery in 1902 and continued to use their stamping. In 1909 they changed their name to Union Cutlery company, the new company bought the machinery from the now Defunct "Booth Bros." the knife in my earlier listing.

Nice Tidioute TD, very nice condition for its age.

Picked up this Wostenholm pruner, different from others I have found in that it is slimmer, easily pocketable. It has a brass end cap, instead of steel. Found some information showing it may be from the 1930's.
