Nice Ole Balloon pen advertising knife Kerry. It was probably made in about 1920, they had them in stock waiting to be hafted with whosoever name... :)

So, it's a Balloon Pen and not a Senator Pen! There is just too dang many names for knives now dangit! :D

This is a Camillus WWII USMC Raider Stiletto This has a zinc handle, etched blade, and is very rare to find one, especially with even rarer sheath & in this condition, from what I now understand

Equal end half whittler(I quite possibly have made that pattern up ? :D) in Rosewood, bigger, 3 5/8 " long, but packed full of two blades, a big but very slim knife. Look at the crink and heavy swedge on the pen side of the clip blade to get clearance in there from the top. In person the clip looks absolutely twisted closed, but open you don't even notice it.
They are packed in there tight but don't touch

I picked up the New York Knife Co. one in the top pic at the flea market for $5 today. The bottom is one of my favorite WWII knives. It has a hand made 7 1/2'' blade and a Bakelite handle. - Dan

Some of the details say pre-WWII, and some say later; even recent. Sorry to be so vague. It's a knife you have to coon-finger and chicken-eye for a while. Why not toss it in front of BRL's crowd, and watch the ensuing kerfuffle??:D

Charlie, I elected to wait until the St. Louis show this weekend. I knew there would be some Shapleigh/Diamond Edge experts there. And, mine is counterfeit. Part of the learning process. I appreciate your help, and no wonder I had you puzzled. :o But, I love the pattern, I don't have an arm and a leg in it, and it will get carried.

The St. Louis Show is a nice one to attend. Lots of antique, factory and custom work present. Here is a purchase from the show. Will try to keep this thread hot.

This one must have spent a lot of the last century in a drawer. 3 1/2-inch blade, 8-inch opened. Good shape, great stag.

Very Nice Joe... That one just about has it all. Bolsters, swedge, short match strike pull(I don't remember ever seeing one like that before) and beautiful bone

Beautiful I*XL Joe!! The way those Sheffield cutlers fit their stag never ceases to amaze me. That knife is in great shape, and undoubtedly real, unlike your D-E. That was a poser. I'm glad you got that clarified, for both of us! I learned a bit right alongside you.

Blues, if you are watching, compare the jigging on that D-E to that "two-faced" Case cattle knife's jigging!

A pen knife made by Dawes Co marked Hadfield's Patent Steel. "An abrasion resistant heat treated austenitic manganese steel containing about 1% carbon, 13% manganese and 1.2-2.0% vanadium". Patent by Robert Hadfield 1883. Not sure if the blades are made from the steel or if it is an advertising for the company. I think Charlie posted an example here, or maybe, elsewhere some time ago.

This thread is great... it'll take me a month on dial up to see it all, I just skipped through... sire are some lovely pieces shown!

Thought I'd throw this one into the mix, my newest, 1920s Remington R663 3.5" bone sleeveboard jack. :)
