"Old Knives"

Augie- Thank you as I was unsure and needed clarification- The Bone Imperials I have are as you say- extremely good tough and well built - but mine don't have the Hammer Brand- very interesting my friend and Thank You kindly.

Can anyone tell the approximate mfg. date of this Cut Co Barlow? I would not call this peach seed jigging . . . does that narrow it down?
It is in the 1926 catalog as #215¾S, and is not shown in the 1940 catalog. Thanks for any and all info!

I would say that it is pre-mid 1930s, probably 1920s. This is an opinion. Go ahead and buy it Jeff; it is fairly inexpensive and you need another barlow!

Thanks, Cal, I already bought it! ;) I know that jigging is earlier than the peach seed, just not sure when the peach seed jigging began. I would call it pick bone, but of course, Schrade never used that term . . . they call it bone stag in the catalog.

Here is an early Schrade “arched” tang stamp 3 & 5/8 inch barehead jack I recently acquired. It is in excellent condition with very little evidence of much use. Full blades with just exceptional mechanics. The blades may have been very lightly sharpened and stropped some but that is all. I do not detect any significant blade edge distortion or unevenness in the bevels especially on the primary spear blade even under magnification. Very pleased with this one!

Jeff neat ol’ Barlow- nice Bone - not too sure when that slots in - after Pic Bone and before Peachseed?

Just pack it up Brother and send it on down - and thank you for finding it - I was just about to get the postal service to do a search

A mighty fine early cut!

This one is a new arrival. A true grail acquisition in fine condition, schrade cut 8172 3 5/8" cattle in ebony. Very little use and still has factory edges and pointy tips. :)
