That turned out really nice. You must have quite a bit of time into the axe. How long do you think it took you to get there? I like to compare my refinish time to what other people are doing. I can tell my wife I need better tools.

I honestly don't remember. This is from 2 years ago. Regardless, I'm quite certain that you need better tools!

You used a file to remove all the mushrooming?! You must have the patience of a saint!

With good technique and good files it doesn't take as long as most people think. The key is a rock solid vise at navel height.

Right. I would also add a big, sharp file and a file card to keep it clean.

I wish I had a vise!! LOL!! I hold head in left hand on right thigh and file with right hand. Good thing I am in no rush....

Maybe if I bought fewer heads I could afford a vise?? NO!!!! Must have more axe heads! LOL!

Thanks. Filing like that has got to be miserable. You can get a pretty secure clamp using a vice grip on on unhung axe. Or use D clamps for a hung axe.
