So a few days ago, i was showing my Gramps my new knife(SMF, he was pretty impressed:D) and he was saying how he carried a little Old Timer slipjoint around for a long time, but it got taken when he forgot he had it at the air port...now i got to thinking, i would like to get him a good knife, maybe for fathers day or just a random day...but should i go with a good slippjoint, maybe a Queen? or get him something like a good smaller spyderco or kershaw?

I cant decide:confused::confused:

What do you guys think? If youve got any recommendations i would love to hear them...extra points for pics:D

Also, as far as budget, lets not go too high...as much as i would love to get him a sebenza or something, its not gonna happen at the moment;)

Get him a case with a chrome vanadium blade. they have many paterns to choose from and a few different handle materials.

You could get him a locking folder but I wouldn't give him something tactical or modern looking.
And I mean that in a very broad way, so no CRKT Drifter, most Spyderco's and Kershaws.
And suited to carry in his pocket and not having to use the clip.
Preferably with a wooden handle.

Maybe a lock back wooden handled folder which is not to big.

Do you have anything specific in mind?

Can't go wrong with a Buck knife I think.
Maybe a smaller brother of the well known Buck 110.

Or perhaps an European knife

Europe makes lots of wooden handled knives with or without locks.

That joker looks really good!! im gonna have to look into that one! thanks for the suggestion!

Try asking this question in the traditional forum. They have great ideas and love to spend other peoples money! ;) :D

i would go for the case swayback jack, it is a great lookin knife and is very well made.

I like the Queen 2 bladed Congress and medium stockman in amber bone - both in D2.

I say get him something he is familiar with and you know he will like. Most old timers don't like to change what works for the sake of variety.
That Case sodbuster or a Case pen knife would be something I reccomend. Case is very hard to beat out of the box, Queen means you are going to spend some quality time with a stone to get an edge on it. Case come with nice grinds and are always sharp out of the box, plus they are classics your grandfather is sure to recognise with quality.
A Victorinox Swiss Army Knife is always a good call as well.
