I see so many threads about new knives I thought I would start one about old favorites. Everytime I look at a new knife and think wow that knife is pretty cool, I pick up my grandfather's 13ot and know the new knife would just go in the drawer. :D Chris

I love that 15ot, boy does that old 1095 take a wicked edge. Chris

Yep, she'll cut you if you look at her too long:D. I love the old Schrades, I think I was born with a Sharpfinger in my hand! Growing in rural NC, everybody had one....

Where abouts in rural NC? We might have been neighbors.

Growing up, there wasn't a single hardware or feedstore that didn't have a big schrade display. Dang good knives for the money, doesn't even compare to the chinese crap that is available at the marts of today. Chris

Chris - East Flat Rock, outside of Hendersonville. Great place to be a kid, I haven't been there in 30 years.. We had a general store and an Agway that had a big old Schrade display. You are right out the value for money, an awful lot of serious outdoorsmen have sworn by them for years...

Thanks Doc, these knives bring back a lot of memories I had a marlin spike when I was a kid and used to show it off to my friends. I had no idea what it was used for but thought it was cool. :p Chris

I grew up in the extreme western part of NC, Robbinsville to be exact. The rural southern appalachians was a great place to grow up, a good pocket knife, my 22 and a fishing pole were my toys and video games. :) Chris

I just bought this rig off my nieghbor, some of the more tradtional tools I own. A step away from micarta, kydex, and black coating, etc.

Here's my first knife given to me by my uncle before I was a teenager. I don't often carry it now because I'd hate to lose it as it holds so much sentimental value. It's not all that old compared to some knives passed down from generation to generation, but I do know it's from the '70s by the tang stamp.

I don't own old knives :(
But I love the ones with classic look - like the Buck 110,Buck 119 and Victorinox Soldier :)

One of my first knives was an Old Timer and I used the crap out of that thing. I'm not sure of the specific model, but it was one of the 3 blade ones. I'm surprised there was any blade left as much as I had sharpened it (terribly and with little skill, I might add). It's the only knife I have ever lost, and the only knife I have ever owned that I would care much if I lost it. It's hard to replace something that I had for 20 years and used on a regular basis. :(

I grew up on the other side of the county in same area and still have my sharpfinger too.

A great area

I still have my first knife and hatchet. An old Imperial that came in a set along with a SAK style folder. I have lost that one.
