Let's see your old Schrades, Imperials and Waldens. A buddy of mine asked me to sharpen his old Imperial scout knife with really nice old jigged bone scales worn down over years of use. It was his drill sergeant's knife, and he carried it more for memories than anything else. I sharpened it, gave him a black alox Victorinox pioneer, and beseeched him to put the Imperial scout knife up and carry the SAK instead. He carries a Stanley razor knife for his work, but I have seen him with both the Imperial and Victorinox, using them in his shop.

I got a neat old Craftsman scout knife made by Schrade in a trade, and have a couple 8OT stockmans. I saw a really nice older Imperial stockman at a gun show, it had a spear blade with a nice swedge. The dealer and I couldn't come to an agreement on a trade, and I didn't want to spend any money on it. Big mistake. Maybe he'll still have it.

What I'd really like to see are the older knives, the ones with the jigged bone scales. I don't know, but a nice patina and jigged bone scales really do it for me.

Any pics you have of old USA made Schrades, Imperials and Waldens are welcomed!

I was looking for information on blade differences between the 8OT stockmans, and came across the 881, a pattern I knew nothing about. Just to give you an idea of what I am looking for...

After looking at Google pics, I believe this is Blues image. Very nice knife!

Here's an Imperial Cattleman with a Camillus Engineer's pocketknife.

Patina but no jigged bone- I still have to do the handles and lanyard shackle for this Schrade Walden NY USA (otherwise it's perfect).

I got this at an estate sale for $5. The spay has lost maybe 1/8", the clip maybe 1/16". I've picked the paint out of the jigging.

As much as it pains me to say it, I don't have any old Schrades or Imperials with bone handles. I have yellow celluloid, propwood, jigged delrin, and smooth black composite, but no bone.

So, if you get tired of looking at the old bone handles (not likely!), I can post some others for comic relief.

Okay, you asked for it! But I'm telling you they are nothing like that outrageously gorgeous 881.

Schrade Walden 708Y serpentine jack (2.75" closed) that I gave to my granddad for Christmas 1971. My grandma gave it back to me the following Christmas, after he passed unexpectedly.

With obvious shrinkage of the celluloid.

Craftsman 9473 small stockman (2.8125" closed) with interesting color variation in the delrin handles.

Imperial jack (3.5" closed) with black composite handles that has obviously seen hard use, but I like the big stout blades, and the long pull on the clip.

It is also the thinnest (0.3125" wide) double spring knife I have, which makes for easy pocket carry.

My favorite Schrade Walden, an 832 small stockman (3.3125" closed) in propwood.

It came with some rough places in the clip blade.

Which sharpened out nicely.

I like the dark back springs.

Real nice Doug!...I like the way you gently took out those nicks, and retained as much blade-, lovely wood..propwood-I have never heard of it, it looks real nice as a edc., but I have always had a soft spot for those Craftsman knives...they are so, so well made!

Dan...yes my friend..that is a very nice little knife in the top photo's

Thanks for the kind words.

Dan, I was hoping you would show that first one. I have told you before how much I would love to find one just like it!

Thank you for sharing it with us again.

Some beautiful knives!

My pleasure, Doug. If I wasn't afraid I'd lose it in the mail, I'd send it around to all y'all so you could hold it. I swear that thing vibrates.

Thanks for the kind words.

Most of my Imperials are of the Frontier Series. All the scales are Delrin or wood. I am up to 94 knives in my collection of Frontiers.
