Old Schrades, Waldens, Imperials

just the one (thanks again sitflyer!)

If you can only have one, that's the one to have.

Here is one I rescued from old garage tool drawer rust. I 'think' its a Schrade. Have another in worse shape from rusting below.

Heres close-up of tang of the 'Rust In Peace' one. Scales, liners, and bolsters still good. Springs even appear ok, it just the blades are gone. What you might call 'a little past forced patina'.

How about an Imperial letter opener.

Sorry, all I have is photo record, already traded this one off.

Imperial 'Magic' Knives. If you didn't know, you pinch the blade closed in the well, turn it so a pin can slide in the catch and give it a shake. Blade stays closed.
Pinch it a little in the blade well, turn the other way with a shake and blade opens a little so you open it the rest of the way in normal manner. Thats the 'magic'.

My only Peanut or is it.

But my favorite Schrade is this 204s, TL-29 style, no shackle. To me this is just a sweet knife to hold in the hand.

By now, after all my hot air over the years, everyone knows the first Buck folder was actually made by Schrade, circa 1966-67

Well thank you because there are so many of us who have learnt so much.:thumbup:
The Schrade Old Timer of mine with the rare(ish) black Delrin scales was popped out the same time as your lovely Schrade made Buck, I bought a just-as tidy( as my black OT ) Schrade made Buck as well, I had a guy offer to by it...I just couldnt let it go....no I love really love these two black knives.

Interesting knife, to me, it looks like Ulster bone. I don't recall seeing an old Schrade with that jigging or a long pull like that on a vintage Schrade stockman. I don't recall that shield on an Ulster either.

For my next set of picture is the All American series of Imperial knives. They were made between 1985 and 1989.

Not sure if this one is of the vintage you had in mind for this thread but figured I would post it up.

I like the long sheepfoot on the bottom knife. The top one explains to me some stockman blades I've got. It looks like it's in the early stages of sheepfoot rounding. In a few decades they'll wonder whether that is a rounded sheepfoot or a fat pen or spay.

Here are two of mine ca 1953-4
