Olight getting into the knife game

Looks interesting. I like that they inset the pocket clip into the scale and used flathead screws for smooth pocketing. If Civivi did just that one thing different I would've bought a couple of their recent releases.

I don't know if it is a good product I hope they do good business and this may be a way to introduce flashlight people into the world of daily carry for knives. The more people the better in my opinion. With the discount they are offering these are coming in just over $50 which is actually pretty good considering the materials. N690 is no slouch and I prefer it to the chinese D2 out there at similar price points. Liner lock is nothing to turn your nose up at there are companies producing similarly price blades that use exclusively liner locks on their folders like QSP, Civivi, and CJRB. G-10 is fine and it looks like there is some contouring which is nice to have. I have way too many blades so I wont be getting one but I wont turn it down out of turn. Hope someone here gets one and posts a review.

I've been enjoying mine so far, what was wrong with your pens?

And this knife looks similar to many of the other Civivi and Bestech knives in that price segment. Also, OKNIFE sounds really really stupid to me, I wouldn't want that printed on the blade of any knife I'm carrying. Sounds like they're trying to make an Irish knife....

The 2 was different than the pro, but the OPen2 I had wasn't good at anything. Pen was to heavy for writing, bolt is midway down making palm ink smudges when used, lacked a laser (which they added now to the pro), ink was hard/impossible to find at the time, clip was unreal stiff couldn't clip it at all,, and the light could have used covers for different colored light. It just lacked alot, and didn't do anything great.

Oh man. I wonder if this will detonate on impact like their lights do. Get ready to buy a tax stamp for this grenade.

Dude had a lithium battery in his mouth. Vaping and cell phones share risk with lithium battery overcharging. Do you have the same concerns with Surefire or Streamlight? Both also recalled lights for the same problem.

The pen itself is fine. They chose an odd ink cartridge that are complete garbage. I went through almost 10 refills in about a week. They just stop working. Even the Olight branded ink was garbage. They sent me a free pack of ink and none of them worked. In the end it was a $40 flashlight pen that doesn't write

N690 is kinda like VG10, isn't it?
I'm not a huge fan of using VG-10 these days when there are so many better options like nitro-v

In theory, N690 has better corrosion resistance. In practice, N690 seems to hold a slightly better edge. Here is a comparison graph of their compositions. (Keep in mind that the graph is giving maximum values for the ranges on VG-10. See the chart below the graph.)

I wouldn't be surprised if Kizer is making these. They use a lot of N690 in similarly priced knives. Overall, I've been happy with my Kizer knives relative to their price. I'm inclined to wait on confirmation.

Does anyone know the blade thickness or whether the clip screws are flush?

I haven't had trouble out of my Olight, it's been a decent product. "OKnife" makes me both cringe and chuckle. What's next, OBoots? OGloves?

While the knife is not terribly appealing, it's not the worst thing in the world. At least it's not #cr13 steel, but is it really N690?

Why wouldn't it be? There are enough reputable manufacturers in China now. If Kizer is making the knife, that'd be great. As far as mystery manufacturers and outsourcing, do you question the Chinese-made knives from Spyderco, Kershaw, CRKT, etc.? I'd expect Olight to hire a reputable OManufacturer.

Oh yeah? Go look up “Drewhopkinth” on IG. He has an entire video series featuring customer testimonials about lights smoking, burning holes in pants, WML malfunctioning after one or two rounds, Olight rechargeables venting and melting Glock polymer, etc. Buy once; cry once. Get an Elzetta, Surefire, Modlite, or Cloud Defensive. If you absolutely have to buy cheap, overseas stuff, buy a Streamlight.

Love Olight stuff. Got the knife once I saw the email drop. We will see how long it takes to get here.

I’d pick one of these up if not for the hideous chili. I hate finger choils with a passion. I’m so sick of them being included. They’re useless and ugly. So many beautiful knives have been ruined for the sake of this fad. If you can’t handle a folding pocket knife properly and need to choke up on it for more control maybe you should reconsider using one.
