Olight S1A, S1R, S2R

Well their German distributor does participate, so I ordered my h1 today. Only like 6 euros off, but still, a deal is a deal.

By chance do you have any suggestions for a good bulb to upgrade to LED on that 3D?

Take a look at Malkoff Devices and Adventure Sport Flashlights. They both offer dropins for a 3D Maglite. The Malkoff dropin is more affordable, while the Adventure Sport Flashlights dropin offers greater output and mode flexibility. You can't go wrong with either, and both Gene (Malkoff) and Matt (Adventure Sport Flashlights) are amazing people to deal with.

And just so I am not too off topic, I caved and picked up an H1 Nova and an S Mini with Olight's sale early this morning. Olight does make some nice lights. They have a UI that works well, where access to moonlight and max outputs are accessible from off. They are compact, nice for when you don't need a bigger light but it's still nice to have a bit more output than a light this size normally has. They accept both primary and rechargeable batteries. And they offer very good runtimes.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My H1 just arrived today. So far so tiny. Really looking forward to using it.

Good question, depends on how tight those jeans are ;)

I laid the light along side my Benchmade Triage folder, which is just over 5/8" thick, where the S2R comes in about 7/8" thick so I'm guessing that it should ride any worse than carrying a folder of that size.

And another handy situation to use the light, even though the situation was NOT handy, my car had a flat tire, luckily I had made it home, I went to remove it and the rim was stuck fast !!! man it seemed like it would NEVER come free, had to enlist the aid of my son in law and a sledge hammer and we finally got it to pop off, slid a board behind the rim and tire and he laid on the ground and swung the sledge against the board and pop off the tire came. I had the car on both the car jack and a jack stand so it was pretty secure.

The light worked well, I used it's magnet on the rim of the spare tire so it shown against the car and then again on the flat tire's rim as I was putting the spare tire on. Those magnets sure come in handy!

I have another light that just arrived I'll be taking some photos of and doing a review, but I think I'll start it's own thread as this one is growing larger, although it is about the same size as these, it is the newly released S10R iii and it came with a nifty charging base.

Do you by chance know how to turn the timer entirely off on the s2r?

I believe that if you hold and turn the light off, it resets to no timer function, if you want to activate it you can do that and chose either the 3 minute or 9 minute timer.

I'm not sure if there is just an Olight S1 also, but be sure to look for the S1A which is the more powerful model I think.

There is an S1, which is shorter than the S1A. I'm pretty sure I saw someplace that the S1A is the replacement for the S15...I'll be able to comment on how close they are when my copper S1A arrives tomorrow.
edited to add - the S1A did not arrive, as scheduled. For some reason, it landed on the other side of the river, and never made it to my local post office for delivery.

I'm hoping to pick up an S1R tomorrow either at a knife show in St. Louis or at Grand Prairie Knives on the way back home. I'm not really a flashlight enthusiast but these Olights have some very attractive features for the price.

I've been carrying a Maratac AAA on my key chain for over 6 years and I've been very pleased with it. That's not going to change but the S1R should make nice addition and the "gadget factor" is over the moon.

So just a heads up ;) i decided to go for a S1A befor getting a H1R (because i still have plenty of eneloop AA around, and the h1 is just a tad too thick in diameter)... should arrive the coming week, very much looking forward to it.
everybody have a nice super bowl night!

I forgot about this thread until tonight.
Here we are a little over 5 months later, and I've carried the S1A a fair amount without any problems. My biggest complaint about my S15 was the touchy side switch - the light was constantly getting switched on inadvertently - and I hadn't experienced that with the S1A... until tonight.
I had it in one of the left thigh pockets in a pair of cargo pants, and I happened to notice that my pocket was glowing. The light had apparently been on for some time, as it was HOT. I opened it up and pulled the battery (that was pretty hot, too).
I wasnt happy; but one time in 5 months doesn't make it a fatal flaw. I don't usually put it in that pocket; but I will more often now, just to see if it happens again.
