When it comes to a folder would you rather have it with a lanyard or no lanyard?

I like a lanyard for ease of removing a knife from my pocket...but it does draw attention.
The only time I have ever been asked by security to put my knife in my pocket or return it to my vehicle
(at a local casino) was because of a lanyard.

I follow the esthetics of the manufacturer. I like the lanyards to stay on my Chris Reeve knives but I don't add them to knives, such as my Benchmades that have provision for a lanyard but do not come that way. I like keeping them as original as possible.

What I call lanyards are something I do like on some folders to add some personalization and help remove them from my pocket.
My most appropriate use of a lanyard on a folder is on my Victorinox recruit with a dangler clip.

I mean they look cool sometimes and there are definetly some neat beads out there but I could just never get into putting a lanyard on my knives. The exception to that is my hiking/camping knife, a fixed blade but in that case it's a wrist lanyard.

Only if tip up or no clip.

So far, mind you, I have never used a lanyard or fob or such . . .
but
I DO WANT the lanyard hole . . . in case I need to.

I judge it on an individual basis. On some knives, I like a lanyard, on others I don't. For instance, all of my small SAKs (Classics and such) have a lanyard that can be attached to my keys. Wave opening knives that carry very low usually work better for me with a fob or lanyard to help pull them out.

On the vast majority of my folders I don't see a benefit and I hate extra stuff hanging from my knives.

I like 'em, wish i had a way to post pics.
Most if not all have one. They stay fairly small and unadorned (no skulls or beads) except 2 newer ones.
I find they really do help to help take out of my pocket especially if the clip is tight or the scales are slick.

IMO , lanyards are incredibly lame and homely. Like some pathetic ponytail on your knife. No thanks.

Most of the time for me, it is a no. But, there are exceptions, and it REALLY depends on the knife.

I usually only put lanyards on a small knife (under 3" blade). My Boker Wharcom + Subcom and CS Micro Recon all have lanyards.

I do fine with just a pocket clip. It has worked for me for years.
