On a folder..Lanyard or no lanyard?

I've tried to use lanyards throughout the years but it is a love-hate relationship.
I love the way they look, but they annoy the snot out of me with use. The only lanyard I use on a consistent basis are on choppers/machetes because they add a extra level of safety to them.

Ha, a ponytail.

I've carried knives a long time and never had a lanyard, or fob, on one and don't plan on starting. I know they can be functional to an extent, but they seem like something that goes on pocket jewelry and not a tool.

I like the way lanyards look but i hate the feel. And i also hate putting a giant bead on them and having it smacking crap all the time. If it was a display knife sure. But i have absolutely zero need for one.

I have not seen a lanyard in this thread, only fobs.

Sorry, I just could not resist.

I have fobs on some of my SAKs, but not on any other folder. I still like a lanyard hole on my folders, though. Just in case.

Only on sak's for me. Every one that has been put on another kind of knife in the past has come off.

Fob.

My sentiments exactly. Of course I'd go further and say, "unused pocket jewelry" [emoji12]

And I'd go further and it's very much used pocket jewelry. This domino with fob was beating to sh!t and I love this combo. Because you don't like fogs/lanyards they're useless.

My thinking is on a small folder it might be a good idea. I had mixed feelings about one on a Pro Tech TR4 I had. I am surprised by the response as I had thought they were more popular than they seem to be. =)

Never on a folder they just get in the way and as has been said often draw further attention to your knife

Relax. I was speaking in general terms. If it doesn't apply it's should not have been offensive. Rock on, user!

That's a good looking knife by the way.

Personally, I'm not a fan of how many lanyards look on my folders. But I do appreciate the added functionality for pocket extraction. Especially with deep carry clips. Probably more of my folders have them than not.

For blade retrieval, I usually drop my thumb down beside the knife in pocket, then wrap my pinky finger around the lanyard. So by the time the knife is fully out of pocket, I'll usually have two points of contact already. With this grip, I feel I have fairly good control and close to the position for most one handed openers.

Except for the SAK Classic on my keys, I've never used a lanyard or fob on any knife that I can recall. I can see utility in it for a better grip on a really small knife.

I want my folders to take as little space as the can in my pockets.
So no clips, no sheaths and no lanyards on my folders.

Some lanyards on the ones I got handy, but basically every folder or fixed I take with me outdoors got something like this.

I kept the lanyard on my Sebenza & added one to my ZT 0562, which has a deep carry clip. Otherwise, no lanyards.
