On Playing Wordle . . .

I always played “hard mode” even when I hadn’t applied the setting. I’m honestly not sure how to play the “other” way. I can’t make sense of not using a letter once it’s “green”.
In addition I don’t use any helpers to tell me which words to use or not or how many choices there are available. ** I do find it interesting when others post those things, like "there were only 2 choices after 3 guesses", because it lets us know just how good, or lucky, or bad, our guesses are.
It’s all up to how you want to play and whatever works for you.
Play hard mode also, never switched for fear of it messing with my streak plus I don’t need an asterisk telling me what to do, already have a cat for that.
I keep a handwritten log of every game, after my start word look back for the same pattern and stay consistent with my second guess. My last two had played the word 7 times already, today’s pattern my second guess used over twenty times.
Over sixty 2’s with my system, no need to discuss how many 5/6’s

I don't see the point of using the "hard mode" which just makes the game harder. The game is hard enough as it is. 🤷‍♂️

I currently use a set of words that include all of the vowels (except "Y") and, if I use them thru the 3rd guess, I've revealed 15 out of 24 letters in the alphabet which leaves only 9 other letters to consider in order to solve the puzzle, many of which can also be eliminated because they do not pair contextually with any other letter revealed whether yellow or green.

I can usually reduce the possible word choices to just a few using this method to solve a puzzle w/in 3-4 guesses & avoiding a 5-6 or worse at all costs, which is my objective.

More often than not, the letter pattern that I "see" helps me pinpoint the answer w/o even considering the other possibilities. If I'm stuck, I also consult the letter frequency tables & the past words used list to further reduce the choices.

This approach has been very successful for me -- I've never failed or scored a 6 on any puzzle since I started keeping score on 3/1/22 & I've gotten 18 - 2's & only 12-5's out of the 903 games played in that time.

But, as you also say: "It’s all up to how you want to play and whatever works for you." I agree. ☺️

Interesting that some of you guys use aids. I've always just toughed through it. I mean, I have a loose awareness of popular letters and when I was first formulating my initial three words (which I always use) I looked at letter frequency statistics to optimize. But my goal with my first three words is to get four letters of the answer, or narrow it down sufficiently to make an educated guess. Even if I get three letters in the first word, I usually still use the second which ignores all those letters. And if I still don't get a fourth it's off to the third.

Like using the "hard mode," it makes no sense to me to make the game any harder to play by NOT using the available resources. Purists will say that the use of any aid is "cheating" but I'm not a purist.

As long as I'm not looking up the answer itself & am trying to solve the puzzle using some brain cells (in one way or another), it's not "cheating" IMO. 🤷‍♂️
