However, my 3rd guess made it pretty easy to solve.

An Eagle 2 based on only 1 letter in yellow is just pure luck!
No skill involved but congrats nonetheless

I extrapolated "UT" to "UTCH" as the last 4 letters.
So, my choice for the 3rd guess was limited to just HUTCH & BUTCH.
The NYT average was 4.4.

Yep, pretty much luck. My stats show 5% wins with 2 guesses. Fun when it happens though.

Not sure I’d use the word “skill” for this game. It is largely a guessing/deductive reasoning game. But now that the spoiler potential is past, my lone yellow letter was the “i,” which seems a lot easier to place in the 3rd position. But as I typed my 2nd guess, I’m thinking no way this is “pinto.” Lol

I don't know how WordleBot can assign # values to them but they rate each "guess" based on both "luck" and "skill."

The use of "deductive reasoning" to make calculated guesses about certain letter patterns and likely words based on thoe patterns is the "skill" part.

I used up my one possible Eagle 2 guess when STORY was the target word. So, I can't score any better than a Birdie 3 anymore, unless I change my 2nd starter word which I see no reason to do, since it works so well for me, just to try to score another Eagle.

So, my focus in the game is to choose the best possible word for the 3rd guess, that is either the correct answer or a word that significantly limits the possible choices for the 4th guess to just 1 if possible or to just a couple otherwise.

Eh, Scrabble takes some skill. I only mentioned it because your “no skill” comment made me think about it.

This game has been fun to play and interact with family and friends though.
