Just for the record, that level of detail is totally achievable by hand with Bulino style engraving, but that's not my style of engraving. The knife will be getting the name in a nice script and some flourishes in more of a traditional bolster stamp style.this is hilarious, i will follow this with much enthusiasm. that level of detail might require a laser engraving to get Merle's features!

I will get your coat.Or the more the Merlier!
I'll see myself out.
When I was photographing Seasick Steve in London once he was so plastered he kept trying to get off the stage to have a fight every 5 minutes.^ Ha - I’ve been lucky enough to see Merle a couple times. First time it wasn’t Merle who was blitzed, it was his horn player. Stumbled around the stage, but didn’t miss a beat. Great show!
Looking forward to seeing the engraving and to this thread. Will love seeing everyone’s neck o the woods.

You fooled meI get the feeling, after reading a few of the replies so far, that some folks didn’t read the part right after that photo that states that is not, in fact, the design.
So, for clarification (and I’ll add some emphasis to my original post, as well): the knife is NOT going to have a photo of Merle Haggard engraved on the bolster. That part was a joke.
Chip and I worked out a simple (compared to a photorealistic image of Merle Haggard) design that I think fits the knife well.
