Once Upon A Time In WoodChuck Forge

Sweet knife! All the grains of the blade, hardware and handle flow EXCELLENTLY together. Well done guys...and thanks for posting!!!

Beautiful knife and awesome pictures of the build Chuck!!! Twisting 2"?!?!  I've twisted a lot of 1"-1.25" and that's pretty stiff---- 2" has got to be a real bear.

I built a giz-wiz to twist the billets while they're in the forge, but it's easy to shear them off because it's hard to see just how much I've twisted them (and I'm not smart enough to count revolutions, LOL).

You might want to make some "lateral drawing" dies for your press Chuck. I built some several years ago and they work really well for maximizing twist billets. I'll twist them up, flux lightly and forge into a rough rectangular cross section, and then go to the widening dies. I just forged a 1" round twisted billet into a 1-3/4" wide X 5/16" billet the other day with them.

Yea that 2" bar was not easy. Mike and I spent a couple hours getting what we did. I have a lateral drawing die, need to make it wider though it will only draw to 2" but then it is stuck between guide rods. Need to make it about 4" wide so I can really work the edges. Making dies for my press a little more challenging at times. I really would like to make a C frame press. Thanks for the input all

Me think Cody's high ride w/ drop loop frog tooled sheath is just great for Chuck's damascus cutter/chopper :D

Cody said:
This sheath is very versatile as it can be used as a standard concealment sheath by use of the frog button on the front, a hi ride by using the belt slot sewn to the back of the sheath, or as a drop loop by sliding the sheath down into the frog.
