The Shiv is made of CPM 3V. It is an 8" stabbing weapon that is built to tolerate extremely rough use in demanding environments but is not so thick to not cut. It was originally developed as a combat knife but has also been popular with pig hunters.

THESE ARE SOLD, THANK YOU

The edge thickness before sharpening on these was .015" and it was sharpened at 20 degrees per side, so they are meat eaters. But you can still wail on it, you're not going to break it.

See video below.

The handle is ergonomically designed for a standard forward, reverse, saber and pinch grips for an average to relatively large hand. The tang is internally skeletonized. The scales are 3D sculpted CNC machined. The blade is made of ¼” 3V with a heat treat that has been optimized to maximize edge stability in insanely rough use. The blade has a swedge grind that creates distal taper and deep fullers that, together with the skeletonized tang, create a relatively light weight package (10.7 oz) that is supremely well balanced with thoughtful and deliberate distribution of mass that gives it a surprisingly light and lively feel in the hand without sacrificing tip strength.

The steel, Crucible CPM 3V, is a high performance particle metallurgy super steel with extremely high impact and torsional toughness. The heat treat has been tweaked to improve edge stability and edge retention. In this application it will easily tolerate abuse such as aggressive prying, punching holes in sheetmetal, cutting iron wire and even chopping through cinderblock. It is not stainless, but it has pretty good corrosion resistance.

Specs for the 8" Shiv:
CPM 3V, tested 59-60 HRC, .235” thick at ricasso
Total length 12.75”
Edge length 7.5”
Weight 10.7 oz
Extra grippy 3D machined scales
Black oxide treated 18-8 stainless steel fasteners

David Brown Kydex sheaths with TecLoc are custom made for these knives and are well designed and well made.

There is one 6" fighter and five 8" Shivs in this sale.

Rather than just take my word for it I made a video to illustrate the unusual durability of this knife:

These are finish ground on the bevels, clips and flats. Scary sharp.

#1 is a 6" utility fighter. It is .165" at the ricasso and weighs 8 oz. It has black G10 scales machined in a diamond quilt. This is a good size for concealed carry and works well as a general purpose cutting tool. Video: https://youtu.be/IcovoTyGiRg $290 SOLD

#2 is an 8" Shiv in black micarta scales machined in a diamond quilt. $305 SOLD

#3 is an 8" Shiv in black micarta scales machined in a diamond quilt. $305 SOLD

#4 is an 8" Shiv in brown micarta scales machined in a diamond quilt. $305 SOLD

#5 is an 8" Shiv in black G10 scales machined in a diamond quilt. $320 SOLD

#6 is an 8" Shiv in black G10 scales machined in a diamond quilt. $320 SOLD

If you want a different sheath I have SpecOps Combat Master Sheaths in their standard colors. They are M.O.L.L.E. compatible and jump certified.

Shipping in the USA is $5.

These knives are unusual because they are machined. I do this in my shop on industrial CNC machine tools. A WIP thread documenting their construction can be found here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1048443

I take paypal, cash, check or MO.

Thanks for looking,
Nathan

I'll take #4 with both sheaths, if the jump sheath comes in tan or cayote or similar. Please advise cost with extra sheath and I'll send PayPal right away.

i`ll take #1

On a side note exactly how do you cc this knife?
just curious.

The 6" is a tight little package. I've carried them concealed vertical on the side under a jacket. But the TecLoc is designed to be easily turned sideways for horizontal carry, which is how I think most people do it.

My God those Shivs are absolutely perfect! I've been a huge fan of your work with 3V and the heat treating on it for a while now. If someone buys my BUSSE SOB before you sell out, I'll contact you about one. Love everything about it.

Good luck with the sale.

I agree.. I barely scrounged up some money.. gotta get rid of my leatherman now..

i just couldnt resist.. not sure when hell have another batch..

btw, Nathan are those scales epoxied?

This is the last of these for a while, I'm focusing on some other projects now so there won't be another sale of these until at least after Blade. I am working on some 3V field knives. ;)

No, the scales are pinned on, no epoxy. I only use epoxy on wood scales.

I got no follow up on this sale ....email must be broke sending paypal now.

Ok it says your not accepting payment?
Please contact me.

These are as nice as it gets. I have 2 original 8" shiv's in A2 from the first production batch. Not only are these perfectly designed and executed, Nathan is bad to the bone, responsive snd provides great service after the sale as well.

Hey guys, all six knives shipped out today. Happy shanking....

I was actually waiting for you to release these and literally forgot to check on Friday after having checked each and every day leading up to that day. Needless to say I was less than happy when I saw I missed them and won't have another shot until at least June (!) I'm hoping you will reconsider waiting till then.

I'm sorry you missed out. We just got in a shipment of 3V and some of it is slated for the Shiv and some of those will be made available here ASAP. Unfortunately, ASAP is going to be after Blade. I appreciate your interest, we're working hard to fill orders.
