Thanks, I'm glad you guys like your knives.
The grips on the 8" are actually a little different than the 6". They look the same in the pictures, but they're not. The 8" is an all-business stabbing weapon primarily intended for a saber and reverse grip. The grip looks a little different than most knives, this is because of considerations for the reverse grip. The palm swell and texture, flared shoulders on the scales, thumb ramp and dropped guard all line up for your hand in these two positions to give a strong hold in these two grips and a smooth transition from one to the other. It is a pure fighting knife with considerations given to tip strength.
The 6" is a utility/fighter hybrid. The blade is a little thinner, the grinds are narrower, the scales are flatter, the thumb ramp is a little farther forward. It's a weapon with more concessions to utility.
edit to add:
I'm trying to make these knifes relatively indestructible, and I've selected an alloy with tweaks the heat treat to support a somewhat thinner edge than most rough use tactical knives. I agree with your assessment, there are knives out there that are simply too thick. This is done to make them indestructible. I'm trying to achieve that through design and metallurgy rather than just a thick edge.
