Well Beckerheads, you're boy Cryptyc has himself a set of wood scales courtesy of Crimsonfalcon07. He's the man. The scales are awesome and he even included stainless hardware. I love the look of the wood he used, which I believe was curly maple. I love this forum and it's members. These scales are awesome and really give my heavy use BK2 a bad*ss woodsman knife look. Time will tell how they hold up to heavy use, but I think they will last for a long time (I don't abuse anything, but do use often). This knife is like an extension of my hand at this point and all he minor mods along the way were done to suit my needs. It's the perfect bushcraft knife for me. Love it.

Any special tips for taking care of wood scales?

Glad to hear the scales arrived and that you like them. Looks like they look great with that lovely sheath from Psyop.

Thanks again sir. They are beautiful and they really do compliment the sheath from Psyop. I'm in BK2 heaven.

Than you Warrior! I can't wait to get out and use it. I took those pics on my lunch break so I'm back at my office. I have a feeling it's going to get a lot of hand holding tonight.

Ducktape,
You're absolutely correct. These is something more organic about the feel of it even. I really dig it. Thank you.

Wow those are super sweet. They look great in psy's sheath. A "gentleman's" BK2.

Shows what a difference removing the tactical element can make, that's a really nice knife now. Best of luck with it.
This. I'm gonna end up doing something similar to this with my 2. Welcome to the forum, btw.

Eero,
Thank you sir. I feel regal with it on.

Warrior,
What type of wood are you thinking about using?

Haven't given it that much thought really. I have some California Buckeye Burl scales, but plan on putting them on my niner.

Those turned out awesome Cryptyc. Falcon did a great job on them. That knife matches nicely with your sheath - a real old time woodsy look to it. Congrats!

Ever thought about rounding off the pommel to match the scales? Might make it stand out even more. Might have to pick up a BK2 as a project knife one of these days. Anyways, have fun fondling your knife tonight!

Aikiguy,
I think it would take me a lot of time to file off the pommel, plus I like the idea of being able to smash stuff with it. Although, I do think it would be a much more attractive knife without that pommel. Thank you very much for the kind words.

Garnet,
Thank you sir!

WOW! That is one sweet setup.

Is that a natural patina or did you force it with something?

Jeremy

Wow! That looks great!
The wood looks very nice in the Kelley Customs sheath.
Sweet set up.

Lovely and well chosen piece(s) of fancy-figured Hard Maple, and even more wonderful to see that not everybody on here is into impersonal/inert 'machine-made/machine-formed plastics' Not to throw water on the fire but if you look closely the scales have ever-so-slightly shrunk, and warped, over top the frame ever since they were fitted. A custom gunstock maker/fitter would have been severely reprimanded or fired for this. It truly is an art to choose, prepare and then shape wood knowing how it will behave in the long run.
In this particular instance the pretty wood does not impart any function other than grip and appearance. So: IMO looks have it, and you win! .
