One edc folder for the rest of the year

I never really have time to take and post pictures every time I use my knife, but I used my recruit quite a bit today.
From opening packages, cutting cardboard, putting batteries in a game, driving a screw to hang a mini electronic dart board, or prying ( more like lifting ) the lid on an old trunk that I removed the handle from so another could stack on top of it. This knife has recently been proving itself and I've been using my leatherman fuse a great deal less as a result .

This one. Got a second one for the birth of my first child this year. Will give it to him in the years to come.

That was actually quite an issue for me... I do carry some cogent industries titanium tweezers on my keys though.

If my primary folder doesn't have the toothpick and tweezers I will just add my vic classic to my pocket, so I guess it's not really that big of an issue but it's nice when the knife has it's own.

I'm still carrying my vic recruit, but I did swap my neck knife out for this rough rider tiny trapper that I got and made myself a neck sheath for

I've been using it today and yesterday vs my recruit just because it's brand new, but for the real cutting tasks and for its tools my vic recruit is still going strong.

I did notice that the first 1/8th of edge at the tip was getting a bit dull from hitting the liner, I'll just use and sharpen it normally and it won't be long before that materials gone and the contacting stops. ( it's so very slight, but the edge did dull and also leave a mark in the liner ) I could call Victorinox, but it's such a minor problem and the knife costed me under 20$ so I'm not worried.

Nice tiny trapper and sheath! [emoji106] I have an imitation abalone one made by Imperial, which I often carry instead of one of my Peanuts. I like the size, as it disappears in my pocket.

This one is supposed to be true black pearl, but who knows for only 7$.
I got one for my grandmother for Christmas as she loves tiny knifes, but i didn't expect it to be this cool and tiny. I fell in love with it and had to have one for myself. she'll be visiting for a few days next week and is gonna fall in love with mine when she sees it, but she'll have no clue that she's getting one too 😉😉

The little suspension clip I made needed to be a bit tighter, but is now a little hard to pull out so I put a " lanyard pull "on it and will post a picture here shortly.

I carried that same model for five months on a trip to uganda (we were not sure of the Uganadans attitude towards knives). They scale had been "modified" beyond repair, the tip broke off (due to truly regrettable abuse on my part) and I can barley open the dull blade. I also carried a leather an PS4, some duct tape and a flashlight for the pitch black nights that set in so fast. I learned to love the blade shape, and the extra blade increased it's "edge retention". Great knife for the price, very practical.

If you still have that trashed wrecked vic recruit is love to see a picture.

I forgot to keep up my edge the past week, so today it was dull enough that I had to sharpen ( more like home as the stone is so fine ) my main blade on my porcelain stone.
It didn't take much and it's now back to popping hairs.

To quote one of the tabloids in their advertisements, (I forget which tabloid it was) "Inquiring Minds Want To Know"
Are you going to continue to carry your Recruit after the first of the year?

After the first of the year i plan to go back to my weekly knife routine , but Honestly I'm not sure.
I know It will get more pocket time than other knives for sure. I need the toothpick & tweezers so I'll carry my classic along with my other folders, but in addition to carrying the recruit regularly it will often accompany my fixed blade edc's since my other folders need to be paired with the classic.( theoretically that should mean it gets carried 3 times more as I have 3 fixed blades in the rotation )

Well tomorrow is the last day of the year , but I'm not sure if I can put the recruit away just yet .
I've decided I'll start with my fixed blades so the recruit has 2 extra weeks of pocket time, and if I gradually start to grab my fixed blades more and more it may be easier to swap the recruit out.
It's not even the knife that's doing it either, it's the drivers which are just more convenient to grab first vs opening my leatherman.

Well for the first week of 2017 I decided to go with my imperial h6 on my belt so the recruit is still in my pocket.

I have to say, they make a pretty good pair. Next week I'll see how well it pairs up with my sog seal pup, ( won't be any pics as its not traditional ) then after that the recruit will finally get a break when my other folders get paired with a vic classic.
