One knife for the rest of your life

I was thinking more like in a cast away or The edge kind of scenario but I botched the title of the thread lol. If I have my sebenza on me and im stranded somewhere I know it will do what I need it to.

This here are some nice knives. Many people in history have had fixed scout/texas/spanish/bowie/ knives for their entire lives already! Are you English?

PERSONALLY:

Sadly I don't have a knife I can have the rest of my life as I believe they will all break down in decades without maintenance despite me having high quality ones and 1 bowie, and the future is dark and horrible you won't be permitted to keep a knife (or your wang dang doodle for that matter) soon.

This gets asked a lot, and it's an interesting study in where a person's mind goes.

Do you gravitate toward a Dooms Day scenario where every function that a knife can perform will be pressed into service? Do you see yourself as an outdoorsman needing a blade that can tackle the wilds and build a shelter? Do you just see yourself as you are and ask, "What do I NEED?"

All three of those would garner different answers from me.

I would say that if I needed a knife that could do most everything I need of a knife that would not only be practical but tough and with a good track record... CRK large Inkosi.

I could do my job for the next 25 years with nothing more. I could survive a short stint in the wilds with it if it were all I had. It will hold up to decades of hard use and stay tight and in tolerance.

But I'm glad 8 don't have to choose just one....or 10.

My mind goes to what if I find myself stranded either on a island or in the wilderness. I know enough to keep myself warm and to feed myself but I need a knife that will help me accomplish those things.

I carry CS Large Voyager Tanto half serrated VG-1 since 25 years

So it's 25 to Life I think ...

If SAKs are allowed, I would choose a OHT (or equivalent full size with tweezers and scissors).
If plier based MT's are allowed, I would choose a Leatherman Charge TTI (or the equivalent from the Victorinox lineup)

Without any real parameters it’s tough.

In my current life. It would have to be a pairing knife. I’d likely starve without a good pairing knife. If it doesn’t include kitchen knives. I’d go with a Buck 110. It’s about the biggest knife I can carry without any issues. I’ve carried one of daily for over 35 years now. They have never let me down.

If I was walking into combat or into the woods forever. It would be a Randall model 1.

If it were an island ocean environment it would be something stainless. Probably the Buxton fighter shown in the picture.
