One Knife for the rest of your life!!!!!!

CIMG2285.jpg

if you could only have one knife for the rest of your life, folder or fixed with a 500$ cap, what would it be? pics welcomed:D

I assume you mean one EDC knife (i.e. I wouldn't have to toss out all my kitchen knives).

I could probably get by just fine with a Victorinox alox Soldier. Not sexy, I know. :o

Probably a Busse Steelheart of some type or a Busse Nmsfno very tough knives.

I have to say that my favorite folder that I have ever owned is Fällkniven U1, so that would be my choice.
I'd be tempted to choose fixed blade, but carrying it would be much more unconvenient than folder. I do carry fixed blade every now and then when I take EDC bag, but often I don't want to drag that stuff with me.

This 850,000 dollar "gem" will do.

bastid i recall the article warenski told in which he described the difficulty in getting the small gold balls in the handle of the King Tut knife. wonder what that blade is valued at?

Probably the Swamp Rat Swamp Warden with a good cord wrap. It's convenient to carry and stronger than the average pocket folder.

God forbid that would ever happen :O

I guess it would have to be a reliable fixed blade...I don't really know many super high end knives other than the typical ones like the SNG, Sebenza, etc.

Those are folders, not fixed blades ;)

SMF for me. Yeah, it's a folder, and in the case of the apocalypse, it wouldn't be the bring-all-end-all of knives, but for day to day living, I find few knives in my hand more often....well....no knives actually. If it had to be a fixed blade, my MTL-SS.

I gave my Reeve Yarborough (sp?) to a friend's son assigned to 3rd Group in Afghanistan, so for practical use even the Shadow IV and Sebenza would be replaced by the $35 Randall #10 5inch I've had for years. Most used knife I own here in Florida next to a cut down Collins machete. regards Les

I see lots of people choosing very think beefy knives. I'd choose something more like a mora or maybe a kershaw blur with fancy steel. And save all the prying for my prybars and the chopping for my axes.

As much as I like my folders from xm18 to Striders to Benchmades to Spyderco's to Bokers, if it has to be the only one it would be a fixed, as we all know that if a folder breaks it will be almost useless.
And if this is the only one, it has to be useful for all kind of jobs, so it can not be a large blade no matter how I like it...
It also can not be a very thick blade, as it has to be good in the kitchen perhaps more so than elsewhere..
And it has to be made of tough steel, so I need not to worry...
And it has to be the best ergos for me..

So given all the above from what I have it is the one on the left:
