One Knife Only

Gosh, I've never thought about this one. Let me study some more.

Only 1... my scrap yard 1311.

The small stuff would be more of a challenge but I'd rather have it for wood processing, chopping etc..

I seriously love this blade.

I am in the market for a Leatherman - is this the one to get? The end-all for Leatherman's..?

Well, I've been looking into it a bit lately and the Charge appears to be the big dog in the leatherman lineup. It has a S30V blade... pretty good for a multi-tool, and has great reviews. It would be the one I'd opt for, dunno what other people think.

Oh yeah, if I had to pick a one blade knife it would probably be the Spyderco Gayle Bradley.
If I could go custom, I'd probably get Gayle Bradley's Model 6-IDB-M4.

I don't know.

Usually, when somebody posts a thread like this, they're looking for suggestions for a new knife to buy for themselves.

My Benchmade Mini-grip can handle everything I've thrown at it. Realistically, I could carry this knife for the rest of my life, and probably never need another one.

But one knife for life?

Nah. Not possible. We're here because we like knives. Collecting, using, buying, selling, talking about, and on and on. You're unlikely to find people here who will give you a straight-on answer, because we just couldn't do it...

Umnumzaan. Or maybe the ZT 0301. No wait. I couldn't live without my custom Buck 110. No... the small sebbie or the Mnandi.

If only one it would be my Sebenza large Classic. Great design plus the ability to take it apart for cleaning along with a complete refurb if you wear it out is just an all-around win.

+1 for this. Idk how i would get through a day of work with a just charge or a zt folding knife.

That looks like a ken onion shun ?

One knife in the kitchen? It'd be my 240mm Tojiro Gyuto.

One knife for EDC? BHK Frontier Patch. Nice handle, the perfect length for my hand, great blade length and great steel. You could process small game with it, process some small wood, slice most things that would be suitable to slice with a knife, and it is nice and lightweight.

I don't like these "one knife forever" type threads because there isn't one knife that can do everything well. Sometimes you need a chopper, sometimes you need a slicer. Sometimes you need one with a lot of belly, sometimes you need one with no belly.

Ditto what shorttime said about one knife for life. Mine would be my Hudson bay knife from ML knives, if the stinky stuff hits the fan.

If I needed a sole knife to survive with I would likely choose a quality fixed blade that could chop, slice, be used as a spear, etc.. If it were a folder then something like a Millie or PM2 so I could slice, stab and still pick splinters.
